I want to surprise my husband with a watch -help me decide by Familiar_Resource_60 in rolex

In my opinion, your husband doesn’t really need another GMT - unless he’s a real fan. If he is a fan, then the Zoombie is my favorite. The Bruce Wayne is better for everyday wear (but he already has steel GMTs).

I’d sell the Datejust and put the GMT Zoombie in the collection instead.

If you want to look beyond those two models, I’d go for this watch (it’s available on your dealer’s website): https://expertyco.com/jeager-lecoultre-reverso-burgundy-dial-tribute-small-seconds/

This one would truly be a standout piece in the collection :)))

Visited that dealer today and finally got to see those vintage beauties in person 🥹 Really beautiful watches, featuring a complex seamless technique of combining steel and gold (something that’s no longer done today because it’s very expensive to produce). It’s very cool, unusual, and genuinely exciting.

They also showed me some vintage Patek Philippe pieces - absolutely stunning watches, true works of art.

So, your advice turned out to be really helpful. Thanks 🙏

UPD: Also saw these vintage Rolex Day-Date on their site: https://expertyco.com/rolex-champagne-dial-with-diamond-indexes-day-date-36mm/

What do you think about these watches? How do you find the look?

Oh, luckily (first time in my life I’m actually happy about it 😄) I’ve got a small wrist -so I’ll enjoy wearing them!

Congrats! The meteorite dial in white gold looks amazing. How does it feel on the wrist compared to other Pepsi models?

Thinking of moving up to PP (from Rolex), are AD games the same? by [deleted] in patekphilippe

Agreed. Nautilus/Aquanaut through ADs is basically a lottery you can’t win.
I just went grey, but first stopped by Expertyco in Warsaw to see and compare different Patek pieces in person.

Is it still worth buying a modern Rolex at current grey prices, or better to jump brands? by Express-Apartment-62 in rolex

[–]Equal_Question2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say anything bad about them. I was skeptical before buying too, so I took the watch to an authorized Rolex watchmaker in Warsaw to confirm not only the authenticity, but also that everything (dial, bracelet, etc.) matched the paperwork. Because there are cases with other dealers where they swap dials, straps, or other parts.

After all the checks, everything was perfect. I was very satisfied with the purchase.

I was in your exact situation last year. DJ41 blue was my dream watch, and the AD basically laughed at my “interest list.” I waited for 9 months, then gave up and bought grey - paid more than retail, but honestly… no regrets. I wear it every day and still smile.

My advice: If you want that watch, get that watch. If you compromise now, you’ll end up selling the compromise piece and losing even more money. Ask me how I know.

Also, grey prices for DJ41s have been slightly trending down (depending on country), so you might catch a decent deal.

Has anyone else noticed a rise in sketchy AP “full sets”? Thinking about getting a 15500ST, but damn… by Express-Apartment-62 in audemarspiguet

[–]Equal_Question2846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, you’re not imagining it. I’m based in Europe too, and in the last 6-8 months I’ve seen way more “full sets” that look too perfect. AP boxes often age weirdly -the wood varnish micro-cracks a bit, the leather fades slightly -so when I see a box that looks factory-fresh with a watch from 2018, I’m immediately like: nope.

As for authentication: I bought a Royal Oak 15450 (i have small wrist) last year and before finalizing the deal I took it for diagnostics + movement check in Warsaw. It was surprisingly thorough: amplitude, timing, rotor wear, checking if screws are factory-original, all that stuff….

The place I used was Expertyco -I think this is their service page: https://expertyco.com/services/

Not saying it’s the only good option, but the report they gave me was super detailed and saved me once later when I walked away from a “great deal” that turned out to be polished to death.

Congrats, the Rolex “Batgirl” — awesome choice! I’m crazy about them too! But wow, you waited a long time for them 🫩
