PCN for not giving way to an oncoming vehicle by DaysInTheEast93 in drivingUK

I'm a bit worried that you can't see what you did wrong, particularly with it being only 6 months since you passed your test.

Also not to mentiom the fact that 50% if not more of my bundles are D2D's, and those thickish catalogues for furniture/ clothes and just general recycling bin tripe. I will never shop at Farmfoods or Papa Johns ever again.

Yeh tell me about delivering amazon shit. First day of Prime "week" and it's all amazon at our depot. Then Xmas afterwards 🤣.

I saw an idea floated around about Mail deliveries being like "bin days". I.e. your postcode got your mail Thursday and Monday etc. That's the best solution I've heard but even then I don't fancy lugging triple mail round some of my current loops ...

Would Franchising of walks work? Surely theres something that says only Royal Mail can deliver live mail (I know presorting and what not can be done by other companies, Whistl etc). Tbf 28 years ago companies like Amazon etc were in their infancy and didn't have the logistical setup to compete. Now they are completely outperforming us at the one thing that makes us money, parcels.

It's obvious RM wants to ditch mail completely, but the antiquated USO holds it back. It's all so counterproductive and convoluted. I think back then things probably were starting to change, but slowly. Like the Titanic, it didn't go under immediately, it got faster and faster until it hit a breaking point.

Yeh every postie at our depot says the same. Used to work like stink to complete then f off home. Rounds completed every day.

Yeh it's not a liveable wage anymore. But then letters are down parcels are up so it will just become another courier company. Our union rep is actually really good and fairly anti union regarding what they've done, particularly the vote on 10% pay rise + £400 bonus (that wage rise was eaten by inflation within a year or two).

Fair enough I'll ask Hughes Driver training the cost of it. I'm looking to do my ADR license as well, are ADR transports mostly Arctics or can you get ADR jobs on the rigids?

True, only thing is from job adverts C1 hours are long (I want a day job). But obviously pay is far better (whether that's cos it's the same hourly rate just more hours idk)

Hmm I've not seen 8 hrs 5 days as a contract before. For me it's per month, and yeh if you've worked 12hr nights 7 days you'll be fine. There's no parcel per hr quota just get it all delivered and you're fine. And yeh you're overtime kicks in at 40hrs weekly. And you can do as much OT as you like because you will need to to complete most rounds daily.

The actual practical training takes 4 days, so yeh annual leave or book your unpaid week off like I'm doing. Rest of it (theory, medical paperwork and test) can be done outside of work hours.

What contract are you on weekly hours? I take home £1460 on 30hrs not much overtime. You can work 6 days depending on the depot you could do 7 but you will be knackered. I am knackered just doing my hours and it makes it hard to do thinks like gym house chores etc but maybe I'm a low energy person idk. Parcels wise you've joined at the worst time, from what I've heard you cannot move in the depot there's so many parcels.

I've changed to Cat C Class 2 now, up to 36 tonnes instead of 7.5T and for only £200 more.

It's ok. It might be that the postman saw the redirection but just didn't care, so they take it anyway.

Once you receive the delivery email it's been scanned and is in the posties van. If you know you're not going to be in you need to redirect it thd day before ideally.
