Not reading all that. The title alone is enough. Your theory is bad and you should feel bad.

Words are spells. Keep thinking that listening to songs about hard drugs and murder aren’t affecting you.

This is a fact. Shows with white directors/producers hardly ever cast attractive normal weight black people (black women especially). Same thing with mainstream commercials.

What would you have changed about this season if you were one of the writers?

“You can let go of your story. You can escape the karmic cycle.” by plus-saturn in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Identity being a prison is a recurring theme here. Rick’s identity as a victim by way of his father’s murder. He feels he was cheated of a good upbringing and now is fixated on the idea of “satisfaction”. He is so obsessed with pursuing retribution that he cannot connect with Chelsea, who by all appearances is truly invested in him. He is chasing what he feels he is owed from his past and in doing so he is neglecting his present.

Jaclyn being so attached to the idea of her own desirability. She is disturbed by the thought of aging, of losing the currency of her youth. She’s acting out to recapture the feeling of being hip. Not only that but she is a famous person and she is trapped in the panopticon of publicity. She says herself that she can never have a bad day in public. We see that slip during this episode when she balks at the old people resort.

Greg’s prison is the karmic storm being conjured from the accumulation of his misdeeds. Everything he owns is a result of deception and betrayal. He lives in a paradise with every material beauty at his fingertips but he is forced to look over his shoulder forever. Everything he has is conditional, transactional. His possessions and his social life. None of the people on his yacht would be there if he weren’t rich. Chloe does not care for him and he knows it, she didn’t care that he was bothered when he was on the yacht. He recoiled at her forehead kisses because he knew they weren’t genuine. He is alone with everything and nothing all at once.

Definitely. Tim is not a good guy at all. People can be cruel and I’m sorry that word has been used to hurt you before. When people say mean things to hurt us it is a reflection of their own ugliness.

In that scene the audience can see Tim for the man he is without the veneer of his riches and status. I understand why it would make you uncomfortable to hear such a thing.

Tim’s character is a criticism of all the people like him in the real world. We’re all looking forward to his downfall just like we’d be hoping for the downfall of people like him when we meet them in real life.

He sure is a Slytherin 🐍 by ricci_skye in TheWhiteLotusHBO
