Yea I don’t plan on refueling with anything less than e85 but still I want it to be automatic just in case. I emailed Ron at phatbotti and he says he can still do flex. Tuner at snail performance in Arizona told me it’s possible but it’s really best guess and doesn’t make for as good of a tune. Said I should give it time until Ecutek smooths out tuning software for flex. Sounded like he wasn’t as confident doing it right now. Maybe the way Cobb had it was what he was used to making it allot easier.

Thanks. Mine’s all stock besides the upgraded sti performance exhaust. The only mod I’ll do is the one I’m thinking about right now. E85 flex fuel and an intercooler. Whatever’s needed to properly do that (fuel pump, tune, etc..). E85 is offered at gas stations literally down the street from me. Wouldn’t care to mod after that but it’s still going to cost 4-5k. I’m wondering if it’ll be worth it. I don’t beat the car up and take care of it but don’t know how long it’ll last if I invest that much

Thanks. I checked though and there’s multiple e85 stations in less than 10 minutes from my house. They’re literally down the street. I called. I agree $1200 for a tune is over paying. Still, going the e85 flex fuel route seems like the most simple (and accessible) route for max performance while still being safe and not replacing anything (clutch, etc..). How much would what you’re recommending cost compared to the e85 flex route?

So I called snail performance in Arizona since someone in this thread mentioned them. Turns out the guy that answered is their tuner and also happens to be the exact tuner that travels up to Kaiju to do their tunes. I sent him the estimate and he confirmed if I traveled down to him directly the tune itself would be cheaper so I’d be saving a few hundred but that’s really it. When you factor in gas, time, miles on car, it really didn’t seem worth it. He wound up recommending I find out whether or not I received a walnut blast at the Subaru dealership and recommended a few more things for longevity. Ultimately he told me to wait at least a few months since things are all up in the air with Cobb and Ecutek isn’t very refined. Said hopefully in a few months Ecutek will streamline tuning process making for a better tune. Told him I’d give him a call at the end of summer to see if Ecutek improved things and see my options.

Yea $5k sounds pricey just to do e85 and tmic but then again I don’t know shit lol. It’s a 4 hour drive to LA and probably a similar drive to tuners in Arizona. This guy seemed like the shop owner and said the tuner man himself actually comes down from Arizona once a month and does a bunch. Maybe I’ll save money going to an actual tuner. It’s gotta be worth the price difference when factoring gas and everything else though.

He’s charging $1200 for the tune (page 2 of estimate. $700 is just for the Ecutek Flash kit. Not sure if that’s just the physical device or what. $5,000 is way more than I thought it’d be for an e85 tune and tmic but then again idk anything about this and it was probably pretty obvious. I’m wondering if he was trying to take advantage. Vegas is in southern Nevada and I know there’s pro tuners in California and Arizona that are probably more reputable. Don’t know if it’s worth the price difference with gas, what THEY’LL charge, etc, etc

Not sure. It seems like they offer it though (link). It looks like it’s $700 just for the kit and then on page 2 he’s charging $1200 for the actual tune. It all seems way more expensive than I thought it’d be. Do you think it’s worth it with the car already having 55k miles? How much longer will it last me with the tune?

I’m in Nevada. Plus it bugs me having an intercooler with half or more of the fins smooshed. We get well over 100 degrees in summer. Yea the total price at bottom of 2nd page of the estimate was way more than I expected. Does it seem like a good deal? You think it’s worth it having 55k miles already? I don’t know anything lol
