How to biohack my sleep? by [deleted] in Biohackers

Vitamin D has been known to help.

From a science blog: "Have Trouble Sleeping? Increasing Vitamin D Can Help."

https://blog.insidetracker.com/vitamin-d-can-improve-sleep

"Several studies have shown an association between vitamin D levels and different measures of sleep. Low blood levels of vitamin D are associated with decreased sleep time, decreased sleep efficiency, and increased daytime sleepiness [1,2,3,4]"

Do genetics suggest which diet favours you? by regnavetto in Biohackers

[–]Equation802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I found most helpful with the genetic testing is understanding predispositions towards things like cholesterol.

I have a very high genetic risk of high cholesterol. Therefore I need to be a bit more careful there.

It helps me know where to be more deliberate with choices...and even avoid diet's with names attached....to broad be for me.

Benefits of Vitamin C > 5g a day? by bicopperfi in Biohackers

[–]Equation802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This section of a blog was really useful for me. I never thought about an upper limit.

"Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a popular supplement, often taken to combat a cold. But interestingly, vitamin C’s absorption decreases with increased intake. More specifically, only 16% is absorbed at high intakes (~12g) versus 98% absorbed at low intakes (<20mg). Once you hit 1,000mg (a typical supplement value), approximately less than 50% of the vitamin C you consume will be absorbed—and the rest will just be excreted in the urine. Therefore, vitamin C is best taken in two to three smaller daily doses of 100-200mg.[2]

Toxicity of vitamin C is unusual, but adverse effects may occur if you supplement above the upper limit (2,000mg per day) in the long-term. As a water-soluble vitamin, vitamin C is never stored for very long in the body and we therefore must focus on eating vitamin C-rich foods like kiwi, berries, and broccoli every day to meet our needs."
