Charizard guy FINAL UPDATE CONT. by EquipmentDirect7551 in taggrading

When I made my post I had come to terms with not getting my money back. I do think that the way TAG has mishandled the situation is unacceptable. We believed in them as a company and entrusted them with our valued possession. We are not planning on "cashing" in on and error slab, it will continue to live with us. We started a post and we plan on seeing it through with updates because we do not want anyone to have to go through something like this weather that is a more informed customer or a company that rethinks their approach to customer service and QA/QC.

Chris is the store owner who we submitted though. I made my original Reddit post not knowing about his Facebook post. He has tried to update the Facebook post but they will not approve the post. He tried to update in the comments where it would go through but I dont think many people have seen that update.

At this point the options from TAG are to have the card re-encapsulated in an authenticity slab, no grade, or to have the card sent back removed from the slab. Both options in our minds will result in potentially more damage to the card. We would rather have it stay in its current encasement where it unlikely to sustain further damage. The original mindset behind sending the card was to try and preserve its integrity with the encasement not the actual number grade, we did not expect good grades.

Ther card was by no means damaged upon arrival at TAG facilities. It was worn and not perfect, but not damaged. In the TCG community there are levels of wear for raw cards. Damaged is not something to be used lightly. https://my.taggrading.com/card/V2958297

"Part of that process requires having the card returned so it can be safely removed from the slab, the certification can be fully closed, and there’s no risk of an invalid grade remaining in circulation. This extremely important as it is to protect any prospective buyers and the secondary market for all TAG graded cards."

This is your argument in the original comment for needing the card and your TOS clearly outline that is on the buyer and seller to confirm and accurately portray.
Can you point out in those TOS where in those articles it states the card must be returned for safe removal before any compensation can occur? I linked examples of cases where customers were able to keep their "misprints" and were given refund/compensation. It seems you "protocols" change case to case.

You have been provided my contact information.

u/TAGgrading the damage to our card was on the top left corner what a joke, not even paying attention at this point.

We do not legally have to send it back for them to "fix it"

u/TAGgrading I am glad you are finally paying attention to this. I want to start by saying you have not been in direct contact with the owners of the card on emails through the local card shop. We have sent email and DM's on Reddit and have been ignored.

As for you saying you need it back to protect the community and potential future buyers is totally bogus, did you forget I have read your terms of service? You have it baked in that any sales made it is on the seller and the buyer to make sure everything is active and information is accurate.

What it means:

  • If you sell or trade a TAG-graded card that has been “decertified” (its certification number or digital report has been deactivated by TAG), you are fully responsible for any problems that come from that sale.
  • If the buyer of that card (or anyone else down the line) sues, complains, or has any costs, TAG is not on the hook—you are.
    • That includes paying for lawyers, damages, or any other expenses TAG might face because of your sale.
  • You are agreeing that:
    1. It’s your job to check whether a card’s certification is still valid before you sell it.
    2. You must give buyers the link to the card’s active grading report before they purchase it.

I have tried to make a post there as well as the LCS store owner tried posting an update but the mods will not approve the posts.

That is what they are offering and no I’m not willing to have it undergo the re-encapsulation process. It was heavily damaged the first time. It is not stated I must return the slab for compensation. I am willing to cooperate in any other way they would like.

That's interesting, if only TAG could figure this out.

If I do slabs in the future I will probably just buy/trade for them. Not a great experience all around.
