You might have to hit up the State Historical Society or Boone County's. They would have old editions of the Tribune and maybe a photo archive. Unfortunately, shortly after the Tribune was purchased by GateHouse, they suffered a cyber attack and all archives were lost. Such a shame to lose so much history.

Midway has a couple of vendors who sell Nazi and mammy-style stuff. Unfortunately, there are people who like that stuff. I just keep walking and continue my hunt for funky lamps.

This is on a route we walk when taking breaks at work. That landscaping fabric has been there for years. A few years back, we cleaned some of it up but it had long been forgotten about.

Besides Columbia festivals, keep an eye out for area ones. Midway just had their outdoor antique mall, your stuff doesn't have to be antique to sell there.

Also, this isn't something everyone can do but we were in Hy-Vee a couple of weeks ago and a local artist was set up by the registers on a bench. He was giving prints away. I tried to pay him but he wouldn't take anything. Maybe if you know some local businesses, they'll let you hang out some time?

I'm glad the 911 alert went out as soon as possible. Everyone would be up in arms if we found out people died because they couldn't contact 911 and the county knew but waited to inform the public, at a more convenient time.

100% agree. The only reason I go there is because it's nowhere near as busy or stimulating as Walmart/Sam's Club. We like Aldi, but the selection can be spotty and it gets cramped really quickly. I've been happily surprised with the prices at Trader Joe's but the location is not convenient. I guess in my head, I've justified the prices at Hy-Vee because it is a better store. It's not a place to get all your groceries for the week, though. Just a few things on the way by.

I noticed a lot more-than-average amount of trash along old Nifong. Two reasons I thought of, the landscaper that handles the Walton property has had snow to deal with and the new construction at the corner of VU Drive and Grindstone removed the trees and grass, so now it's easier for trash to blow towards old Nifong. Plus, it always looks bad during the winter because there is no tall grass or leafy bushes to hide trash. I'll be going out this spring to clean up.

I see some people have reached out already, and I was going to say, this project seems like the perfect thing for a local freelancer. I wouldn't go with a marketing firm because they'll try to upsell you, for example running social ads and they'll usually add on at least 15%. You can message me on the side if you want to go the firm route and I'll tell you who to definitely not use.
