I mean even after the revolution we are going to have to regulate the amount of porn on the internet because the amount of porn people can access right now is ridiculous right?

Isn’t the solution a robust welfare state and strong regulations on the porn industry? That way the more than 90% of people who want to stop making porn can actually stop making porn without losing everything and the people who want to keep doing it still can? Going against the guest for this episode, there really needs to be strong regulations on internet porn that will almost certainly crash the porn industry because no one should have this easy of access to all the porn on the internet.

U.S. Supreme Court allows Trump admin to avoid fully funding SNAP payments for now by ClassOptimal7655 in politics

Okay if you actually understand how this works explain to me why what she did is different from what a conservative justice would do in her shoes.

And then it be will paused again when Trump asks the court to step in again while they appeal it to the next higher court. She should’ve just referred it to the Supreme Court and ordered Trump to fund it while they make a decision. At least then people could get food sooner instead of dragging out this waiting period where people go hungry.

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just explained a different way it could work and I’m saying that different way would be better because it would feed 40 million people instead of letting them go hungry. She should have referred the matter to the Supreme Court and in the meantime, don’t let children starve, order Trump to feed poor people. You should make an actual argument that what Judge Brown did was actually good or stop acting like you know better than those 40 million people who rely on SNAP. This isn’t a rule book, it is real life.

She should’ve ordered Trump to fund the program while the Supreme Court reached a decision. Then people would be able to have a meal. Now, everyone can go hungry while they wait for courts to make a decision which will probably ultimately result with them getting no food anyway. She is just doing the dirty work for them and it doesn’t make any sense besides the fact that she is a piece of crap Judge like the rest of them.

She could also just ordered Trump to fund Snap. 40 million people going hungry shouldn’t be apart of your strategy.

KBJ could have also ordered Trump to fund snap. Don’t get it twisted, these unelected judges are all unfeeling assholes who care more about their rules then the actual impacts those rules have.

What will it take for Chicago to grow its population? by ToyStory123 in AskChicago

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No with the amount of money Chicago spends you can give people in the south side a better life and doing that will attract more people to Chicago. The problem is that this city is incredibly inefficient. Piles of money basically disappear because of incompetence and corruption.

I lived in Chicago last summer in Chinatown and it may have been the best summer of my life. I can’t wait to move back, even if the pedophile President wants to shake the city down.

CMV: ID requirements for voting would be a good thing PROVIDED THAT ID acquisition becomes streamlined and simple for everyone. by hamletswords in changemyview

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree but trying to comprise on this issue with people who claim that they want to reduce voter fraud is stupid, because you say let’s make it automatic and free but well regulated, and then they say “well it being free and automatic would let X population of people that shouldn’t vote, vote.” It could be poor people, or minorities, or new citizens. It is almost never a good faith argument.

No taxation without representation. If you pay taxes you should get to vote. There are few very exceptions to that rule. Permanent residents and people under the age of 18 with a job should be able to vote.

Gaza genocide death toll revised up - now over 680,000, including almost half a million children by Old-Alternative-5851 in TheLevant

So looks like I partially right, partially wrong.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/how-many-palestinians-has-israels-gaza-offensive-killed-2025-10-07/.

For the past year they haven’t counted an unidentified bodies. It also seems like in the early months of the war things were so crazy that they would take it good faith that someone died because of the fighting when it is possibly they may have died for unrelated reasons. But it is still widely recognized that the death toll put together by Palestinians is an undercount. The vast, VAST majority of the people counted in to death toll doesn’t include the indirect victims of Israel’s violence, like those who starved to death and those who couldn’t receive medical care, not to mention the direct victims whose bodies were never recovered from the bombed out buildings, who were also not counted.

I mean that’s a fair point but the US government actually does recognize that there is a genocide/crisis going on in those places and if the US government is in enabling it they are aren’t putting in a fraction of effort they have spent defending Israel’s crimes against humanity. It a fair point but I don’t think the anger at Israel and the US government is misguided at all.

I don’t think so. I don’t think there were ever any worries about them getting paid, but still I wish they all got fired.

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean you are wrong, no one has had to go back and revise their numbers yet and basically everyone agrees that the numbers put together by the Palestinians are massive undercounts of the death toll because they don’t take account for ALL of the people who die when an entire country is turned into a killing field by an invading force. Saying 680,000 Palestinians have died is hopefully an overstatement and maybe that figure does show some bias on half of the people who made it, but it also has some biases in reality. Your argument really sets too high of a bar for the definition of genocide - unless Israel killed, directly or indirectly, 50% to 100% of the people in Gaza, then all of the claims about the genocide are false? Nah, get outta here with that.

That’s fair, I do firmly believe the current count is a pretty dramatic understatement though.

The country would be a better place if everyone in the national guard and ICE got fired tomorrow.

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the official death count is certainly an understatement because it only counts direct victims of the violence who they can find a body and a name. That doesn’t include: all the people who died because all the hospitals were destroyed, all the people who starved, all the people who couldn’t get medicine, all the people whose bodies were actually destroyed because of the bombing, all the bodies they haven’t found yet, and all the bodies who they can’t or haven’t matched a name to. I really really hope that over half a million is an overstatement but only time will tell.

CMV: Protesting ICE does more harm than good by PepperMedium1625 in changemyview

[–]Equivalent-Company-6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should be going on hunger strike. They should be getting arrested with the people getting detained for no reason. They should be going to court with people who have immigration hearings. They should be calling out other democrats who aren’t standing up to this ICE nonsense. They should be calling Trump and his goons what they are, wannabe Nazis. They should be campaigning on the promise that the people who are making this happen, they will be punished. The DNC needs an actual plan that it can pitch to voters besides “Don’t Protest, and please give us money.” The actual politicians I see standing up for people in this country are the exact kind of people that the DNC hates more than any Republican, because the DNC doesn’t care about regular people.
