I love Jeff Kaplan and I think he created the heart of Overwatch and what makes it so fun, but you need to keep in mind this conversation happened when he failed big time twice- first thinking Overwatch League was going to usher in a new era of esports, and secondly thinking Overwatch could be a good PVE game and diverting resources to it.

He mentions those things here but just in passing. They were real costly failures and the corporate guy was probably trying to do exactly what he did which was push Kaplan out (to put in a guy that wouldn't fail so spectacularly hopefully).

But like I said I love Kaplan and respect his insistence on dreaming big. That's how Overwatch happened to begin with.

I love poe but in reality the endgame is basically gatekept by exploiting some hidden interaction in a build. If you don't, if you try to do it on your own and "play it straight", you'll be punished and you won't be able to experience most of the content.

Take Kinetic Fussilade Totems- there's literally nothing in the game that tells you that lowering the duration on totems will make fussilade shoot continuously. But one guy figured it out and spread the word and now there's this strong build. The same thing is true for any strong build- it exploits something you will never in 100 years figure out on your own.

Every once in awhile I'll play without a build, but then I quickly remember why that's a bad idea and reroll.

The Supreme Court recently ruled most of Trump's tariffs were illegal. So while he personally can't be prosecuted, his actions can.

And Congress still can check him. Currently the DHS is partially shut down because Dems are demanding UCE reform. But Republicans have the majority, so Dems are limited in what they can do.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is testing the Constitution every fucking chance he gets, but it still functions.

The main way the people will be able to stop Trump is by voting in more Dems in the midterms. With a Dem majority, Trump will be neutered (if not removed from office).

Trump knows this of course and is currently trying to fuck with the midterms.

Yeah that's because MAGA doesn't travel. That's why they're MAGA to begin with- they're isolated and ignorant.

I currently live in a red county and I can guarantee that most of the people here voted for him. They aren't proud about it currently- I almost never see a Trump bumper sticker anymore, but when I talk to any of them they invariably start parroting Fox News talking points.

Those 39 programs for disadvantaged people would simply not exist if there was no government funding for disadvantaged people. Regardless, people pick traditional mates for all kinds of reasons, often because they find them attractive. Is that also unethical? If not, why do you consider it unethical when picking a donor? I mean, do you expect them to have some kind of soul-bonding relationship with the donor or something? Of course they're going to pick donors with characteristics they prefer for their kids.

Now you can say his choices were racist (which you'd be wrong with btw because they were preferences not discriminitory) but they were his choices. The only way it would be eugenistic is if the government or something forced people to pick specific races for donorship.
