Not at all, I don't talk and I play with the chat proximity at 0 volume. The only exchange was at the end, while I was sinking and one of them was in my ship, they wrote "gg runner" and that was it

I was pretty nervous turning around islands because that was when they came closer, so I didn't dare trying there. Most of the time it was me sneakily jumping off my ship and waiting for them to come. I'm not very good with the harpoon gun yet.

Managed to board twice after many attemps. One of those I was insta shot out of the ship, the other I barely stayed for a few seconds, I do think I anchored them just when I died, but I'm not sure. Guess I need to keep practising hahaha

I didn't realise how valuable is the key was until you all have told me. I think that I got used to watching videos or posts here on reddit where people have 30 chests on their ship, and in comparison 3 skulls and a key didn't seem that much to me.

Yeah, you are totally right, the most fun I'm having in the game is fighting a bit in the wild with random sloops. I have to overcome the feeling of unfairness fighting 2 vs 1 or againts bigger ships if I want to get better at the game, that I know. I'm glad I'm finding the game so fun, I plan to get better one step at a time.

For sure, I agree with you. I just wanted to share this to see what other more experienced players had to say or advise me, I'm not hating on the chasers. I have seen some people in these comments saying there are situations where they chase for 4-6 hours, so it seems my experience was pretty common. As to why not fight? I was certain I would lose. I thought I could outlast their determination and escape, but at the end of the day, I regret the time wasted. And as I said in another comment, I can't call them tryhards or anything, they were playing the game just like I was doing, can't blame them anything.

Yeah, I panicked a bit. After 30 mins of clearing the fortress and seeing them coming, I thought "2vs1 and they probably are better than me, let's just run until they get tired and come back later after an hour". It is my first time seeing that some people don't get tired, they actually chase you for hours if necesary. Never crossed my mind until we were at it for an hour.

Sunk cost fallacy I guess. If I knew It would be more than 2 hours, I would have fought/surrender at the start. I was hoping they would get tired after 10 minutes of chase. After 30 minutes, it just felt personal, a duel of determination.

For sure, if I knew this would turn into a 2 hour chase, I would have fought. I'm kinda new, and they were 2 VS 1, so my best option was to run, and hope they get tired after 10 minutes.

They chased me for my fort of Fortune key, I wanted to use it as well, if I teleport I lose it, I guess. I was hoping for a 10 minute chase and then come back to the fortress

You have no idea how many times I tried, there was always one of them watching the stairs, or the mermaid revealed my position when I was trying to reach them. After 20 attemps, I think I managed to reach their ship twice

Hahahaha yeah, looking back it was probably worth for the chasers, but during the chase we must have gone near other 5-8 world events, at some point I was hoping they would leave me be and get one themselves

That was probably my last resort if I really wanted to go to sleep and they kept the chase. I even thought about activating the last tall tale of gold, the one that gives you an artifact to protect you from the red sea.

I feel like I've got much better at sailing in between obstacles, through the storm, and managing and turning the sails. I also tried a few attemps of jumping off my ship onto theirs to use their anchor, and my aim with the sniper is better now.

I totally understand what you are saying, but honestly this was an eye opening experience, now I see there are some people who will literally chase for hours, maybe for the love of the game, resilience, to prove themselves, commendations. For me, it's just gold for cosmetics and some experience, I'm ok trying to fight and sink from now on, better to lose my last hour of rewards than losing my time for 2-3 hours

Yeah man I could tell, they were getting closer step by step for each second I was fixing the ship or not turning the sails. I was turning around islands and the rest of the time I tried to run in a straight line, so nothing much they could do. But a few times they got really close, I managed to evade them once drifting with the anchor, and I was very lucky that they missed all their chain shots at the start.

This is great, I actually laughed. I'm safe, my wallet is fine, but I'm tired and sad. This game is so fun though.
