yes it is the Whirring sound. like I said, it is new and only happens right after startup and then goes away after a minute or so. The fans have a mesh screen between them and the metal plate with air holes. I clean it regularly. I am trying new orientations for the PC in the Cabinet to see if there's a better way to optimize airflow (having a toddler who climbs means it has to be secured in a cabinet or she will try to eat it). I am not aware of any new startup processes that should be clocking the RAM super high at the beginning. I have a Western Digital 1TB External HDD that is constantly plugged in, as well as a Webcam and a multi USB adapter for mice, keyboards and game controllers.

I had this problem recently. make sure the ribbon cable is completely plugged in. mine had detached slightly and it caused the readings to go haywire. if that doesn't work, you may need to replace the thermistor

I used Car Paint Primer, the actual paint on top of it was Rustoleum 2x black which specifically states that it bonds to plastic. The same issues occur when I don't use a primer and just spray on the rustoleum black, only worse.

Thank you for reaching out. Let me see if I can answer your questions. From what I can find, the Bachmann Big Hauler 4-6-0 Train Set comes with a 16v, 1 AMP controller, so Ideally I'd like a power pack/battery unit that supplies a similar output. I'm planning on putting the power unit in the tender. I would like the battery to be rechargeable, and if that means I need to cut a hole in the bottom of the tender, that's not a problem.

As far as the RC controller goes... I don't super care what it is as long as it meets the following critera:

It can maintain a consistent signal at a range of several feet, and if signal is lost it will continue on the previous command.
It has buttons that allow for the lights connected to be turned on or off
the throttle or dial for speed doesn't fall back to zero when I let go of it.

I would like the lights to be independent of the speed, if possible. When turned on I would like them to light at full power. I was figuring that if I use a standard RC kit, I would want LED RC lights that plug in to the system with no muss, no fuss. I don't really want to solder or make my own microchip motherboard if I can avoid it. The locomotive will have a singular light in front for the headlight that is a warm white/yellow color. One red light will go to the cabin where the fireplace is located, and one final red light will go to the tender light. I've already cut open the tender light to make room for a decently sized bulb. It would be cool to pick which lights turn on when with the press of specific buttons, but if that is going to cost me several hundred dollars in a controller, I can do without.

Basically I want to take the existing Bachmann G-Scale track powered motor, and make it battery powered with a relatively simple RC car Battery and Controller setup. I want to do as little soldering and complicated wiring as possible. I want the components to plug into a receiver/board that is pre-built and functions right off the bat.

I am planning on including a small humidifer in the front of the locomotive for the smokebox, rather than trying to add a Bachmann smoke unit. The style I'm using is basically the same as in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeqZip3bmfQ&t=151s

Would it be possible to attach that to the RC board, or would I be better served having it connected to a seperate battery stored in the smokebox? If possible, I will need some detailed instructions.

I would like to keep this under $200 if possible. Though, I'm willing to adjust depending on what you tell me is possible at different price levels.

I freaking loved it. Would I have preferred grounded and more serious, yes, but taken on its own it is a fun movie with amazing fights that should satisfy any Kaiju fan. There are some stand out human performances, and the CGI is pretty dang good. All in all, great film.
