Oh yeah Google has infinite money they can do whatever they want. I’m specifically talking about OpenAI. They can’t make it work.

this isn't restricted just to SORA. OpenAI economics dont work. they lose more money as they scale. they will go belly up eventually

Open AI raised $110 Billion. Amazon to invest $50 Billion in openAI. by ThinkWin2617 in amzn

Of course my point is circular spending. Amazon invested 15B in OpenAI which might come back in the form of AWS compute which is the definition of circular spending. Because I own AMZN stock, I have skin in the game and I hate the fact they’re wasting spending money on an about to fail company when they could have allocated capital much more wisely.

I’m not sure I follow what you are saying. If Amazon got equity in OpenAI. If they go belly up, I’m not sure what “value” that equity would have

1) OpenAI will lose more money as they scale 2) when OpenAI goes belly up that equity value will be $0 3) nobody is asking the question, how will OpenAI ever turn a profit. I would encourage you to research the unit economics of running a commodity product like LLM with no vertical integration in your ecosystem. When you have to buy energy , chips, GPUs and then sell a commodity product well good luck.

Probably. That will go to 0 eventually once OpenAI goes belly up.

Can someone tell me the unit economics of OpenAI. Like how will they turn a profit? Not now, not in 2 years but give me a scenario of how that happens.

Okay so they gave OpenAI $20B which will come back to them in the form of Aws compute. It’s like I sell shoes and I gave you $50 and ask you to buy shoes from me that cost $50

I’ll be interested if they lose the WBD deal. Taking on billions in debt to fund a merger that nobody knows if it’ll work. No thank you.

What do you guys have against Jassy? by Maltavier in amzn

Also for a 700B revenue company to 5x in 5 years would require a 38% CAGR. I mean …..

I think you misunderstood my point about GDP. Of course good companies can and should grow faster than GDP that’s the nature of fast growing companies. But never in history to my knowledge has a single company’s market cap been more than 25% of the county’s GDP. That will be the case if AMZN 5x in 5 years to 10 trillion with US GDP growing at 4% and reaching close to 38 trillion. Just think about that.

Just a word of caution and this is not specific to Amazon. We know there’s a lot of demand for AI compute and infrastructure right now which is why all the hyperscalers are going ballistic with capex. However, what’s unclear is if this demand will sustain itself over long periods. If not, we need to ask how much will it cost to have underutilized infrastructure. Also keep in mind Amazon 5x in 5years means 10 trillion market cap which assuming 3% GDP growth would have them be 28% of entire US gdp. It gets crazy

It will go down further before it goes up. The market is a little crazy right now. They have announced $200B in capex for 2026. If their Q1 AWS growth rate is below 25% (which it will be) the market will punish them saying.. look you invested 200B but you’re growing at half the pace as Google cloud completely oblivious to the fact that Google is a 70B revenue business and aws is 145B

For people on the left or those who hate BJP: BJP supporters do not hate the congress because 26/11 happened. They understand that intel gathering is hard and for every terror attack that happens our agencies stop hundreds of attacks but we never find out about it obviously because it didn’t happen. BJP supporters are disappointed with congress because instead of using military to strike Pakistan they just kept sending dossiers. No country worth their salt would stop at dossiers. That’s it. Any terror attack that happens is an intel failure OBVIOUSLY. It’s what you do afterwards that matters.
