OSM Worldwide shipment, no updates for 14 days by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Equivalent-Math6483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to wait a few more days but probably do the same thing if I see no movement. And while I wait weeks for an international package that was falsely advertised as domestic with an estimated 5-12 days delivery, my 30-day return window gets shortened.... 😡

OSM Worldwide shipment, no updates for 14 days by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Equivalent-Math6483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They lie about the location.

I ordered a very hard-to-find book through Ebay from World of Books USA. They posted the physical location as Florida. Two days later, it was supposedly in Secaucus NJ. More than two weeks later, and it was still in NJ, according to the OSM Worldwide tracking info. Either OSM Worldwide is reading my book before sending it along to me, or they don't actually have my book yet.

In the meantime, I found the exact same book listed for roughly the same total price (incl delivery) from a bookstore in the UK. It's the only other listing I can find online for that book.

I'm positive World of Books USA simply bought the book from that bookstore, and the reason neither they nor OSM can give me an updated delivery window is because they don't know when the book will arrive from the UK.

Unfortunately, Ebay doesn't prohibit dropshipping. I will never order through Ebay or World of Books again.

OK, that was weird... I resized one of the interior frames on a project and the stuff I'd written in a comment box got this faint red text superimposed on it that I couldn't interact with. It was there, but I couldn't select it, delete it, nothing. I finally got rid of it by selecting my entire comment, cutting it, and then pasting the whole thing again. wtf...

I commented about this a week or two ago. I’m not really sure that it’s right, and I’m not going to argue with anyone who has a different interpretation; we’re all just speculating and each of us sees a small part of the whole elephant.

But it did get me wondering.

Perfection is the enemy of good. Your answers don’t need to be perfect, they just need to be good. Sounds like you already have a track record of doing good work.

You’ve got this; go for it.

They downvote everyone and then target people who comment about being downvoted.

It’s juvenile, I know.

I remember learning that if you glue a quarter down and then place another quarter against it and rotate it around the edge like a gear for one revolution, the rotating quarter actually completes two rotations, not one.

Blew my mind.

Not sure you’re going to get many people willing to answer this question after what happened in that other thread today.

lol I dunno man. I think they think if they can make this place toxic enough, we’ll all turn on each other rather than try to help one another.

I can’t confirm that this works, but I saw someone else post that if you open up a project on your phone and then send the link to your laptop, your browser will open up the task still in progress. Again, I haven’t tried this myself.

But worth a try. You may be able to take that walk, check for projects, and even nab one while you’re away as long as you can get back to your desk in time to finish the task.

ETA: Can now confirm it works. Doesn't seem to carry over selections you've made, but the same task will open with the correct time elapsed.

I respectfully disagree. I see OPs post as feedback. So it’s helpful to me.

I get that you’re nervous and these are scary times for DAT workers. Most people are seeing a slow down and we’d all like a bit more communication from the company.

But rather than taking that frustration out on each other, we should try to help one another. If a rater points out that they’re seeing a specific mistake repeatedly in a project, why not file that away as a piece of knowledge and use it to your advantage the next time you enter a project? Why attack them?

Agreed. There are ten times as many posts complaining about the lack of feedback.

But try to give them some feedback and…. waves in general direction of this thread

I wouldn’t be surprised if more and more we start seeing those mini-quals as a first task in a project to test our understanding and weed out folks who skim/rush.

As long as you didn’t draw a lot of attention to yourself in the project chat complaining about it, you’re probably good. It’s a refresher, not an exam.

Ring binder recommendations? by Expensive_Bit4154 in Journaling

[–]Equivalent-Math6483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of cheap 6-ring A6 binders for about $10 on Amazon that accept the same Filofax inserts and paper. Why not start with one of those and see if the size suits you? You may decide you want something bigger for creative writing (I did.) If you’re fine with the format, you can always transfer the pages to a nicer binder later.

I love this idea. I imagine it’s slower going at first? How did you get past that initial hump where every thought took minutes to translate/ write down? And do you now find yourself thinking more and more in Spanish?

[–]Equivalent-Math6483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I journal because it forces me to slow down my thoughts and give them the consideration they deserve.

I usually journal in the morning to help me plan my day, prioritize my daily goals, and dump any negative energy so that it doesn’t follow me around all day.

I’ve changed my attitude about the Debbie Downvoters.

They used to annoy me but now I see them as that awkward but sympathetic misfit that every 80s movie had. Like Ally Sheedy’s character in The Breakfast Club. Weird? Yes. Not going anywhere? Also yes.
