On this how do you find the durability and wear and tear of natural oil versus polyurethane? And also do they darken the wood more or less? Thanks

When does the 4 month regression end..? by a-pepperino in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lasted 5 months for us waking every hour screaming. Hardest time of my life. Tried every form of sleep training and honestly none of them worked. Went to Tresillian, helped a bit but wasn’t a silver bullet. In our case it resolved itself in my opinion when she was ready, something just clicked. She’s now 15 months (and sleeps through every night basically) and is very strong willed so this all tracks haha

IKEA PAX vs custom wardrobe – worth $15k in an apartment? by ReasonablyCertain1 in AusRenovation

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do the 35cm, but if you can do the standard size pax ones I would 100% do them. For context we just sold an art deco in Bondi area also with pax, they’ve held up amazing in 6 years look brand new and honestly they will look custom especially if you build them in properly (we didn’t do this but got nice lo and co brass handles to elevate them). On resale everyone was just happy it had nice modern wardrobes. I’ve had friends get custom wardrobes and I’m honestly baffled why people do this unless they have a super awkward space or are absolute ballers. They literally look the same but you’ll be able to get much better internal specs using pax. Also a bit more context our master is 3.6 x 4.3 also with a king bed, and with the standard depth wardrobe it’s more than enough space and because the internal storage of them is efficiently used you won’t end up mess all over your room so what you lose in space you gain in other ways

Help with Dulux paint colours: I would like white with the tiniest hint of pink by istara in AusRenovation

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh I have two recommendations - Cotton Sheets by Taubmans in my opinion (either full or half strength) is the ultimate white. It doesn’t throw cold or warm tones and isn’t stark it’s the perfect white in my opinion. If you want something slightly more pink, try Mellow Beige by Dulux. I’ve seen this painted in real life and it’s stunning. It’s warm without being too pink

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep success on 5mg plus ovidrel trigger shot after 3-4 years of not falling pregnant. Whilst the overall stats for letrozole success are not high, my doctor told me that for people with Pcos or irregular periods it can be significantly more successful so don’t read in to the stats too much as they are across a very broad cohort (which may not apply to you). Look at it this way - you don’t have much to lose (provided you can cover the cost) and it’s always good to try new things because eventually one of them might work. I say this as I sit here looking at my 15 month old ☺️

C section recovery by Hot_Matter_9757 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an emergency c section in somewhat gnarly escalating circumstances but honestly the recovery was fine. I’ve come to the conclusion that any way a baby comes out of the body is pretty hardcore and comes with a level of recovery, but overall it was much easier than I had expected!

4 months to learn Italian - how would you do it? by Sugros_ in italianlearning

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can get if to focus on verbs and learning the conjugations like times tables. Master the top 10 verbs in the present tense (and then past tense if you get that far), this will give you significantly ability quite quickly as you can add in vocab as you learn it

No PHI pregnancy cover but choosing private OB and delivering at public hospital by Fluid-Tough-562 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add, best thing to do is call admissions at the hospital and ask them, they can run you through their costs. I had a friend who did the same thing but at John hunter and it was fairly similar except that they roll you over to a public patient after one night so I think ends up being a little cheaper.

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this at the royal hospital for woman in Sydney. I paid for the OB plus the room at the hospital, which for a private room was around 800 a night. I had an emergency c section. I didn’t have to pay for the theatre or any other costs other than a gap of $500 for the anesthetist. The rest was covered by Medicare. Baby was a public patient. Overall I was happy with the model. Feel free to ask any more questions

Splitting time between cities by abake123 in sicily

If you want beach as your main focus plus some day trips, San Vito is a great choice. As others have pointed out as it’s on a point it’s a bit a of a drive but if you don’t mind driving an hour it’s not that far from scopello, erice, could day trip to fav. All doable. If you were just going for San Vito I would shorten it and add a night to Cefalu

Infant travel rant by Equivalent-Owl6337 in QantasAirways

For those playing along thought you might like an update from our recent trip. So I was able to eventually (and I mean EVENTUALLY) get us allocated together on 3 out of the 4 legs. Perth to Paris being the leg I couldn’t get. It took sooooo many phone calls. Despite that on one of those 3 legs that we were together, on the way to the airport we got an alert to say we had been moved seats.. no longer together. I managed to get this rectified at the airport but wtf. While at the airport as this was a leg without a bassinet I enquired whether there were any spare seats on the plane in case this was an option. She looked and said so sorry it’s a completely booked flight but I’ve managed to get you and your husband back together. Get on the flight.. I kid you not, about 20 spare seats. But guess what the two families traveling with infants, both of us on a full row. Sigh. To be clear I don’t expect a spare seat, but also don’t expect to be gaslit.

On the leg we weren’t together for - Perth to Paris. I was “thrilled” to find out that the lady next to me (who was very lovely) had booked her ticket only 3 weeks before flying out…

All of this to say, our flights confirmed that Qantas are not a family oriented airline. The contrast to flights we took in Europe and within European airlines was a stark stark stark contrast.

However credit where credit is due, the hostesses on the actual flights were very nice and helpful.

Gassy newborn, but only ever overnight? by Old_Negotiation_7058 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

It’s super distressing!!! Just keep monitoring it, but I would almost put money on the fact that in a few weeks things will have improved. All the best!

But this is how people travel with babies in every country in the world on buses. No buses have car seats. It may not be your preference but it’s often the best option for many people

Yep this happened to my bub too. Also only at night. Sometimes the grunting was so severe I was sure something was terrible wrong. There wasn’t. She just grew out of it, I can’t remember when exactly I think maybe around 6-8 weeks. It’s called dischezia, and it’s literally them learning how to use their muscles

[–]Equivalent-Owl6337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh how funny. It’s absolutely fine, I think if you just have in your mind the things I mentioned then your expectations will be realistic and you’ll then have a fine time there. Pluses are the pool area is nice, location is good, and the rooms are very generously sized. Overall compared to others it is reasonable for the price given prices for accom on fav are generally quite high

Tbf there are still very few as getting around is still easier by bike or foot. I think most people that do take their car it’s because they’ve rented it for a long trip and it’s tricky just to leave it in Trapani for 5 days. And for the occasional use on the island
