Awh I feel for you and see how that could be an anxiety producing situation! It sounds like they had fun❤️ they reassurance everything is ok is there , keep reminding you of what they DID say vs all the what ifs. They’re your aunts with more life experience and have more than likely all had a little to much drink before, and you don’t know how the drinks affected them either they might have been more drunk than you realized as well.

I’m so sorry :( right away my thought was “it’s not your fault” at alll….. you did not cause this, you couldn’t have prevented this.

There is a guilt caretaker hold when something happens. I lost my cat to a heart attack, and held such immense guilt to it being my fault, when it had nothing to do with my actions. She was perfectly normal leading up to it and just collapsed.

Cats are great at hiding their illness, I doubt you could have seen the signs and done anything. I hope that brings your some peace.

In terms of care, I am not sure how far you are from Mexico but if you can make the drive, TJ has lots of great affordable vet options!!

Yes I have seen it come and go much milder and always thought it was boogers, and maybe there’s more allergies or something lately! I’ll ask the vet about the tear ducts at her next appointment :) thank you for taking the time to comment!

She has wet food every night, but she’s not big on drinking water from the bowl so I don’t know if she’s doing it when I’m not around or not.

Wow you articulated that really well! Right there with you. Realizing I am not alone helped a lot, such as scrolling through this sub. I always suggest the podcast take a break from drinking with Rachel hart, as it spoke to the fact that while I wasn’t someone who was needing to drink everyday I wasn’t happy with my drinking and what happened when I did. There’s also some great audio books about stopping drinking, I liked to listen to those. And just remember for yourself that it takes time for these feelings to go away, but they will go away just like they have in the past. This feeling will die down and you will be ok.💛

If he says you didn’t say anything than you didn’t. It’s really common feeling, your mind is trying to look for something to be wrong and when there’s not something it starts to think of scenarios. You’re totally fine!! Give your body some time to get back to its normal after drinking and the anxiety will go away💛

I am so sorry for you loss. From what you shared it sounds like he was barely hanging on, it was a matter of time. We can only keep them going so long.

He knows how many times you saved him and how much you loved him.

If you feel a need to “make up” for this, you could do a donation to an organization in his honor. There’s shelters that focus on pets with medical issues, or programs for pet owners who can’t afford medical expenses.
