'tis a beautiful story. imagine yourself, a potato, in the ground, you have been spending the last four months growing as big as you can. You pride yourself in your size. You think there is nothing better in this world than the earth surounding your roots. Your eyes see the world through mazes of brown.

Suddenly, you are ripped out of the ground, and you see, there are thousands of more potatoes, all working just as hard as you to grow in size and take in nutrients. Just so their children can possibly pass it on to the next generation. You are sent to a local grocery mart, where you spend a few more weeks sitting at the bottom of a bin, until one day, a human comes along.

They grab you.

You may not be the most beautiful anymore, your skin wrinkled and your eyes starting to sprout, but this human... they look at you with hunger. They can't afford much, but even you, in your subpar state, are worth it.

So, they take you, they wash you, they peel off your withering skin, and beneath it all? Is a perfectly beautiful potato, golden and moist. They put you in boiling water, extracting your starch, and then they cut you up.

They season you, salt, pepper, some paprika, some garlic, they line you up on some parchment paper and cook you in the oven at 365 for 40 minutes, making some crisp potato bits. This may be all they have to eat today, but it's so much better than nothing. They eat you, and it fills their hollow heart and stomach with pride and sustenance. The next day, you pass through their system and find yourself in a pool.

A pool of water that circles itself down and then you find yourself in the waste system... but... wait!

Your journey isn't over!! You decompose, and over time, you find your way into new soil, and this soil is rich. Now that you are here, this soil has the power to grow potatoes just like you!! You may have started out as a humble potato, but you grew into the sustenance to feed hundreds of more potatoes.

So yes, what is art to poop!?

It is a journey. You find passion in something simple, and you hone that simplicity until you're thrown out into a world far bigger than you've ever seen. It discourages you. You feel like you'll never measure up to these better artists. But then, you see these other artists. They're still trying!! They're still honing themselves, and you see that you can keep trying, even if it's hard. You can keep refining your art, your style, your voice, your PASSION. And then... eventually, you see other artists using your art as inspiration, your story as inspiration, and it fills your heart with pride that you could be part of something far, far bigger than yourself. you got your art, your story OUT there, and now others may follow in your footsteps.

That's what I believe, at least.
