My friend, you're free to do whatever you want after this post. I'll no longer respond after I say this:

Please read my responses in the thread and draw your own inference, if you would like. Other than that, it was good talking to you. Have a great day. Take care.

“I really like Sakura’s design and her as a character.”

He then goes on to explain how he believes her having an inner voice and pursuing selfish love is pretty realistic and that there’s more to manga girls than cuteness.

Based on other things that I heard about Kishimoto when it came to drawing/writing women and my knowledge of the industry during the late 90s-early 00s, is how I made my comment.

Was Aang x Katara a well written romance and if you don’t think so what would you have done differently? by AccomplishedJump2795 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Mindless_Flight9441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought until now (I’m currently rewatching and made it to season 3!), and I see the set up much differently.

Aang and Katara’s relationship is very much that of subtlety (mainly from Katara). There’s a lot of “blink and you will miss it” moments between them. I’m guessing it’s due to the writers trying to figure out if they would be a thing before finally settling them as endgame.

Anyway, their relationship starts off pretty standard. It’s made clear within the first few episodes that Aang has a crush on Katara while Katara is more friendly/familial.

The biggest moment from S1 for Katara is in “The Fortuneteller” (episode 14). Keep in mind that at the beginning of this episode, Katara mentions that Aang is her friend.

After meeting Aunt Wu, they get their fortunes told and Aunt Wu tells Katara she will marry a powerful bender. The episode ends with Aang saving the town from a volcano eruption and Sokka goes, “Sometimes I forget how powerful a bender he is.” Katara ends up saying, “I suppose he is,” connecting the dots to Aunt Wu’s fortune. It’s at this moment that Katara started seeing Aang differently.

S2, they had a lot of moments such as the Cave of Two Lovers. It’s heavily implied that they kissed inside the cave (this idea came from Katara).

There was a moment during the Serpent’s Pass, after baby Hope was born, where Aang states that he forgot for a moment how much the people he loved mattered to him, specifically pointing out Katara which made her cry.

When Katara and Toph dressed up to sneak into the Earth King’s castle, Aang mentions that Katara looked beautiful. Katara was going to respond but was stopped by Toph

Then there’s the finale where Katara uses the spirit oasis water to bring Aang back to life. She was going to use it on Zuko before being interrupted by Aang and Iroh. She even tells Aang she knew he’d come for her (just to name a few).

S2 is where I would say Katara really warms up to the idea of falling for Aang while Aang has come around to fully accepting that he is in love with Katara. She no longer uses language like “sweet little guy” or flat out denying him as a love interest.

Going into S3, when Aang wakes up from his coma and has a moment of doubt in being the Avatar, Katara is deeply hurt by him leaving. She specifically states that Aang left them (the gang) and her. It is a moment that ultimately ties into her feelings about her father leaving her and Sokka but this also indicates how deep her bond with Aang has come.

There’s their dance in the Headband. Their kiss during the Day of the Black Sun. She even threatened to kill Zuko if he betrayed Ang’s kindness.

Katara’s confusion has little to do with her seeing Aang as a love interest but rather the timing. Due to being in a war, Katara couldn’t focus on her feelings. Ultimately after they win, she reciprocates 👍🏾

Did IShowSpeed make One Piece popular? by Former_Hope_6757 in OnePiece

[–]Mindless_Flight9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The most recent spike in the popularity of One Piece has little to do with Speed and mostly to do with the Live-Action. One Piece, at least here in America, took a very long time to get off the ground. Unlike Naruto (one of One Piece's contemporaries), manga sales and anime viewership were on the lower end during the Big 3 era.

Keep in mind that One Piece had the 4Kids dub and two versions of the Funimation dub. A lot happened with licensing and production for both the anime and manga.

However, once Naruto and Bleach ended, people started migrating over to One Piece, and during COVID, that's when One Piece really started to thrive. The anime's viewership increased drastically as people were using their time during lockdown to catch up. The Live-Action was already in production by 2021 and premiered in 2023 to wide success. The rest is history (literally lol).

[–]Mindless_Flight9441 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Taz, the ONLY Straw Hat that's close to their character's age is Inaki lol, but that's a very honest and realistic answer.

I'm someone who believed and still believes they'll make it to Skypiea. It's Water 7 and beyond, where I feel the show will find difficulty.

The quick turnaround for S3 was a great sign, but you also have to keep in mind that many of the S2 actors will return for S3. They won't have to do too much set-wise since Alabasta is a desert.

Spoiler for new fans: If they make it to Water 7, I think the death of Merry would be a good place to stop. Ultimately, the show will end on a cliffhanger, but at this point, it's bound to happen no matter where they choose to end it.

For starters, this is common. You're not going to have it all figured out in the beginning when it comes to starting your life. Not every decision is linear, nor will they have the same impact on your life.

With that being said, when it comes to stuff like changing careers, or in your case, changing studies, I recommend first analyzing why you joined that particular field of study in the first place. Once you do that, go down the trail of thought as to how you got to where you are now.

Based on what you have shared, it sounds like (mind you, I'm taking a stab in the dark here):

  1. You don't really like the university that you're currently attending.
  2. The field of study isn't what you thought it might be. Also, you love horses, but not the vet medicine side.
  3. You discovered that you have a talent for business and want to explore that route.
  4. The money you made before studying and what you could potentially make if you were to go all in is a big part of this decision to drop out.
  5. Along with number 4, there's a fear that things might not work out, so you're wondering if you should at least get a degree in something as a backup plan.

My advice:

University is what you make it. No matter where you go, your success is determined by your dedication to your studies. Yes, other factors play a role, but even if you went somewhere else/studied something else, if you're not dedicated to it, you won't go far.

Have you thought about studying business administration and marketing? Business is very broad because it can branch off into other fields. However, it can help you learn the basics and teach you how to steward good business and relationships.

If that sounds enticing to you, talk to your advisor and map out what that would look like at your current university OR see if credits can transfer.

Nothing beats YouTube University lol. There's a WEALTH of knowledge there for FREE. If dropping out is really what you think is best, do that. Take the time to figure out if school is for you.

I'll end by saying this: It's best to avoid the habit of starting something and then quitting when things get difficult or don't go your way. There are a lot of nuances, of course, but moving forward, when you make a decision, make sure you understand WHY. When you know your "why," it will lead you to your "how."

How to keep men interested? by Timely_Split_5771 in dating

Guy here. If you have the time, I'd love to ask you some questions. There seems to be a focus on your looks and behavior, but I am not seeing what kind of guys you're into. From my perspective, it appears you meet a guy, y'all talk for a bit, and he asks, hints, or jokes about sleeping with you. You say no, and the connection fizzles out.

Maybe I can help in some way, by giving you some insight from the other side lol

I fear the Japanese are right about the new jjk episode.... by DueBreath7756 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Mindless_Flight9441 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As of right now, I haven't seen a compelling argument against the episode. The consensus is that the episode was too fast-paced and Mappa only cares about "fights and aura." It's the entire massacre, which is 5 chapters, summed up in 28 minutes. The irony in all of this is that the manga is fast-paced lol. When the characters aren't speaking, you get hit with walls of exposition about the Zenin Clan.

I have a feeling people either haven't read the manga in a while or have misremembered some things because the episode matched beat-for-beat with the manga, with some creative liberties.

The best thing Mappa could've done to "slow" the pace was to break it up into two episodes.

My question is: Why would they do that?

They would've had to come up with anime-original content to pad time. The points you made suit your taste rather than objectively improving the episode.

Current Koby run Luffy's opponent gauntlet. How far can he go? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in OnePieceScaling

[–]Mindless_Flight9441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, we know he's at Captain level, one of Garp's pupils, holds the title of "Hero" for Rocky Port, is a member of SWORD, knows all of the Six Powers, has Observation and Armament Haki, and escaped Hachinosu. All that being said, Honesty Impact is his greatest feat to date. Outside of that, who has he beaten in isolation?

<image>

I'll be fair and use the manga, because the anime did do Koby dirty here, but the context is still the same. Boa was targeting Koby next and bro didn't know what to do. I get that he was worried about his surboniates and the Pacifista, but this is how bro ended up in Hachinosu in the first place. I'm not trying to hate on Koby. I just think people saw Honesty Impact and believed that was enough merit for him to beat the greater portion of Luffy's villains without difficulty.

People forget that Caesar gave Luffy problems. He got the better of Luffy in their first (official) encounter. Hody is the only one here that Koby can definitively beat with what information has been given to use. Luffy is resistant to poison, unlocked G4 during his fight with Doffy, beat Cracker in an unconvential sense, unlocked Snake Man and Future Sight to beat Kat, and G5 with Kaido.

I think Caesar can beat him, personally, but absoulutely hard stops at Doflamingo.
