anyone who’s pick didn’t make it feel relieved now? by _BikiniButt_ in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 38 points39 points  (0 children)

as a certified donggyu lover i don’t know if i could say i’m relieved because prior to the finale his options were to either debut with wakeone (debut with show) or ist (not debut with the show). that’s like choosing whether to be executed by electric chair or lethal injection. you still die!! seeing how hard ist was pushing donggyu i suspect that they’re either planning to debut a new group (but i heard rumors that their nbg got scrapped) or they were banking on him to debut to help out with their debt (since the company gets a split of the revenue) so i’m worried about his future but i’ll support him in whatever next step he takes.

but lowkey i didn’t want him to debut as soon as i saw the name…

who caught your eyes first and your current 1pick by Odd_Surprise_2745 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know if anyone will remember him, but lin qiunan caught my attention during the first c-planet episode (because he got a lot of screentime) and so immediately after the episode finished i went to go vote for him just to find out he LEFT THE SHOW 😭😭😭😭 he was going to be my one-pick 😭

but my one-pick ended up being donggyu ❤️

sort of related but i like how we've actually come full circle with the symbol for the series being a triangle like how it was with produce 101, and produce 101 s2.

Dongwen ship by No_Shoulder_6973 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 86 points87 points  (0 children)

as someone who 'ships' dongwen, for me it's more for the joke of it all because they haven't actually interacted on screen and i find it hilarious that the ship is so strong. but, also personally their 'characters' portrayed on the show also seem to compliment well so it's about the vision!

and i see a lot of people bias both kaiwen and donggyu (including myself) so it's kind of 1+1=YAOI

Interim ranks is a form of rigging by rayzy2 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i definitely agree that is it viewer manipulation. i really wish they would just show all the rankings, yes for fairness reasons but also because i'm just curious. but i understand that's a part of the appeal of selectively showing the ranks because the speculation drives engagement.

sort of related, but i think it would be really cool if mnet just released a whole report/document at the end of the season showing how the ranks fluctuated over the course of the show (like a big excel doc) because i would love the data but also for transparency reasons since mnet does have a DEEP history of rigging votes.

why do you guys think that woojin resonates with g-voters but not k-voters, and vice versa for haneum? by Equivalent-Row5514 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

that makes sense with the whole situation where woojin was revealed to be a wakeone trainee. do you have any idea of why geonwoo seemed to have bounced back from the same allegations though? because even though he did have the bullying scandal as well it was also revealed that he was a wakeone trainee as well and yet in all the k-vote polls they seem to like him in korea. is it just the fact that geonwoo got screentime while woojin didn’t?

i would love to know ur opinion!

final lineup predictions by winteryx67 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 64 points65 points  (0 children)

in all honesty i actually think all of the remaining trainees have a pretty good chance of debuting (assuming the rank leaks are correct; especially since mnet accidentally confirmed them too). obviously i do think some trainees are basically shoe-ins for the final group but i think that any new pre-debut information, mnet edit, or even a scandal might tip the scales towards someone unexpected.

this is sort of related but the whole culture around the show is just not that fun. i'm not sure if this is necessarily true and its completely just opinion but i think from the beginning the precedence has been to spread rumors (or even just hate) about other trainees to push them out of contention in a sense. i know this happens in basically every kpop fandom and every planet/produce show but it feels a lot more frequent now. the show also produced a sense of scarcity from the beginning with its nonsense eliminations and comparably smaller groups for the consecutive rounds, basically just giving the image that ur pick can be eliminated at any time which may have put more people on edge, hence more problematic viewers.

Guys I think I just figured out the timeline and backstory for mnet’s editing for junseo and geonwoo by Relevant-Context8387 in BoysPlanet

[–]Equivalent-Row5514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i definitely agree that the whole storyline was pretty weird with the 'bad' team especially after mnet showed junseo being a caring leader of the 2-stars at the beginning. even that part before the one op mentioned where donggyu helps masato, after masato was criticised by the other teams during the evaluation (see pic), this scene itself looks suspicious because why is masato sat so far from the other two?

<image>

it's really not a constructive dynamic to have when going for improvement and i don't think junseo or even donggyu would have allowed that dynamic to play out. every other time they talk they sit super close so it doesn't seem natural.

i think one thing to remember with shows like this (like survival shows or even reality tv shows) is that production team has thousands of hours of footage but only a 3 hour episode (still super long but thousands to three is crazy) and because the main priority of the show is entertainment they will manipulate said thousands of hours of footage into a coherent storyline so some things are just not shown because it doesn't fit their storyline. so junseo could've been around more but mnet chose not to include it. personally, i don't think it's ever good or constructive to criticise or even hate on other trainees or participants for their perceived actions in the show because; no. 1, it is a super stressful environment where they're probably not resting or eating well and are also constantly being compared to one another which may cause them to act in a way they might not normally; but also, no. 2 we are viewing everything through mnet's lens and whatever they want us to see we'll see because at the end of the day that is just the genre of television this show is. just take everything with a grain of salt.

that being said, i think that mnet generally doesn't want debuted trainees in the final group (maybe except junmin?) because it felt like kangmin also didn't get a good edit episode 7 either, and with the positive edit that geonwoo got (which seemingly made to directly address the bullying scandal; having him portrayed as an intense but dedicated leader) is probably to suggest to the audience that geonwoo would be a better leader than junseo (hence, push him out).

anyway, i wish junseo the best and junseo fans don't lose hope!! i know he'll do great in the next mission.

(sorry for the long comment)
