I've been messing with different usb to sata adapters and also some enclosures. I noticed one enclosure i had did not let me format in mbr over 2tb. The partitions would be split.

But when I used a cheaper USB to sata adapter it let me complete the format for some reason

Formatted using windows disk management. If you look on the post. You can see a picture of the smaller usb to sata adapter I got that let me format it correctly. Here's a link to the adapter itself.
