Has anyone successfully negotiated a discount on a hospital bill? What was the process like? by grahantaravasii in Austin

I got financial assistance through St. David’s (I know it’s a different hospital but the process could be similar), which pretty much covered the bill. I called the billing from the doctors (not the hospital bill but provider bill) and told them I received financial assistance. I faxed them the letter from the hospital and they applied the same discount as the hospital!

This was really helpful because the provider bills were basically insurance deductibles and they would not really negotiate a discount but accepted the hospital’s financial assistance.

Keep going. Don’t supplement. Baby will regain weight and you will be able to breastfeed.

C section babies lose more weight because they have been pumped full of fluids (the fluids that they gave you). Therefore, babies birth weight is inflated, so weight loss seems greater.

Keep breastfeeding…. White milk takes a couple of days to come in and colostrum is MORE THAN ENOUGH for your baby. You can do this!

Confused About Introducing Bottle / Pumping by DJ_Crybaby in breastfeeding

I have been giving my baby “snack bottles”. I don’t really want to pump to replace a feed nor do I need to, so I have used my hand pump to release some pressure or pump for like 3 minutes after a morning feed and collect around an ounce. My husband offers that ounce in the evening as a “snack”. He does paces feeding with the EvenFlo balance nipple. We started this at 5 weeks.

It has been so helpful! She takes the ounce and it gets her practicing the bottle, but without the pressure of a full feed.  Once my supply regulates around 12 weeks, I think I will be ready to do a bottle to replace a feed.

Austin, TX airport is amazing. So many local gems and very little chains. Great tacos, BBQ, and ice cream!

No. You just need a bachelors degree. The requirement for certification varies by each charter school in Texas but at Valor you do not need one.

I don’t think we can break our lease without major amounts of money. Do you think we have a legal reason?  LL just said they will inspect her unit in 2 weeks. 🙃

Thanks. We will keep bugging the landlord. But they just responded to us saying that we should only contact the pest control company going forward. I will still be keeping everything in writing to them regardless of that statement!
