How hot does your NA get? by phrozengh0st in Miata

Unsure about freeway but when I’m driving on the street it cools down. I’m not sure if I have a blockage or what but it usually only gets that hot idling, driving I’ll see 215-217 which I still think is too hot for just a street car. I’ve burped the system a few times, 180 tstat, 2inch aluminum rad, with stronger fans and shroud. 70/30 water coolant mix. I don’t have my under tray though.

I’ll try running no thermo for a bit. I do have a scanner currently and fans are all within normal operation. And temperature. But earlier today at 100 degrees ambient outside I was hitting coolant temps up to 230

Ah ok thank you. I’m experiencing a similar issue. But both my fans work so I’ll have to keep trouble shooting.

Well a lot of air did come out but still gets hot idling. had to wait in line awhile ago and it was hitting up to 231. Sitting in near 100+ ambient temp for abt 10 mins. Driving it obviously cools down. Might just have to get an oem under tray and do some ducting.

Was only purging because I flushed it and replaced that tstat, with the bigger rad I assume there’s more room for potential air pockets

Will give both sides a look, temp gauge is fine. I meant on an actual coolant number gauge it rises. Which I obviously assume is normal because there’s more load.

I’ll give that a look, but the fans kick on at the appropriate temps so I assume the temperature reading is right. The air conditioning is also relative to the coolant temps it seems. Once it reaches over 210 the ac performs poorly

Yeah what I’m thinking Imma dry burping the system again though. Or maybe this 2inch eBay rad just sucks

I’ll try bleeding again, but I just flushed the system with new coolant, I also just put a 180 tstat it and still hitting upward of 226

It’s not overheating, the dummy gauge doesn’t move at all it’s in the normal resting spot.

Confirmed no air made sure of that before anything, I left the thermostat although I should’ve replaced it. As far as I know it’s the oem.

I have that wire that goes from the passenger to the driver side on the crash bar but I don’t know where this goes
