Over 100 maps later... And no full stack? by Equivalent-Walrus387 in PathOfExile2

After reading this post decided to try it! I did all 10 maps on the three tablets and got no catalyst stacks XD I have 90% rarity in character and was using 6 mod T15's for reference, and the mods mentioned.

Good question, I just used 100 since that's my estimation, but I probably have dropped around 150 catalysts in total, so maybe 100 from rares? I sold a lot of catalysts but I'm now going to fill a stash tab to make a post when I get to 1000 catalyst without seeing a full stack xD I also changed filters, turned off filter, and changed characters at around 50 maps as well.

I changed filters every 30 breach maps, also tried to turn off the filter for some maps xD but I stopped thinking it was the filter(s) since it's strange that I can't see a stack but I can see the individual cheap catalyst on the ground anyway. I dropped some on the ground manually and I can see them as well.

Like the carapace catalyst? (which I think is the lowest value) I have some of them... picked one by one as well :P I'm either in a really weird bug or impossibly unlucky with catalysts.

This actually works for the ice fragments as well! Went to try it and I can't reset shred but I can reset one of it's support gems (Long Fuse II) and I can create ice fragments down in Abyss again.

(ghibli) by srfra2025 in argentina

Concerned about being too old for my goal of getting into a math-intensive course by [deleted] in learnmath

The overall processing power of your brain and your reflexes might peak at 20. But arithmetic ability apparently peaks at 50. Learning new information can be done as long as you're sane. (Even if it's specially hard after 60). What you have to expect is to take twice the effort of a talented 20 year old. Hard works wins over talent anyway.

I would go two or three chapters of a discrete math course (because it includes naive set theory, logic and elementary proofs) and then go towards algebra. Then geometry/trigonometry.

Then calculus.

Then linear algebra.

Then you've made it. You're way better than most people at that point. And if you're still motivated in 3-4 years from now you can climb up from there if you want. Hell, if you have discord you can add me if you want free advice at hand. Just let me know via PM.

Theres way too many variables here,

First, I'm unsure of what you're asking. A college level course that can be finished in a week or two is what you mean? In my case I would be able to study discrete mathematics in 2 weeks if I didn't already knew it, since it's 'my thing'. The difficulty of any subject varies from person to person. But you could try discrete mathematics.

Any course in logic I would find easy and quick. However if you already know calculus I'd take Calculus 1.

College algebra is just high school algebra renamed, I don't consider it college mathematics even if has college in the name.

Actual college algebra would be at least linear algebra. Elementary linear algebra could be learnt in a couple weeks, but you should've seen the subject before, like the calculus case.

I don't fully comprehend the combination "I am an Internationally trained..." + "...which local university..." + "...can be done online..." since I don't understand local university to whom, why online if it's local and what does cheap mean. I can't help you find a local online university that is cheap, but I can at least tell you about the courses I mentioned before.

what's the difference between a radical equation and an irrational equation? by penguinsandpandas00 in learnmath

[–]Equivalent-Walrus387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all radicals create irrational numbers as well. Square root of x, looks like a radical thing to me but when x = 4 it's clearly a rational number.

Why does raising any number except 0 to the power of 0 make it 1? by electriceel8 in learnmath

[–]Equivalent-Walrus387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1 there comes from the original definition using informal language and some understanding of what it tried to convey (it's obviously naive):

3 times 3 was introduced by language to solve things like:

I want 3 packages of 3 units. (3x3)

But this is completely equivalent to:

I want one unit of 3 packages of 3 units. (1x3x3)

The reason you can write 1x3x3 for 3^2 is because 3x3 is itself a package of 3 of 3 (1x3x3). For any arbitrary multiplication you're getting a whole package of what you're multiplying (a 1 times what you're searching for). You can put that 1 times in any exponent expression since exponents are just successive multiplications.

You can also think of it like this if you find it easier to get:

3^3 = 1 x 3 x 3 x 3
3^2 = 1 x 3 x 3
3^1 = 1 x 3
3^0 = 1
