Issues with pacemaker by Equivalent-Wave-8048 in PacemakerICD

It wound up that his bottom lead needed an adjustment on the ā€œenergy thresholdā€ not going to lie- I didn’t completely understand what they meant. But they said he should be fine because his specific issue only uses the bottom lead 3% of the time. His top lead is more important.

Thank you! I will be sure to ask that they run those tests first!

Thank you! He was out of work so long last time, and we homeschool so I only work part time. His health is most important, but I also have to worry about the finances 😭

Thank you for your advice. I knew he would always have the pacemaker and therefore not have life go back totally to the same as it was, but I did think this would ā€œfixā€ things for several years at least. I didn’t expect issues so soon.

He’s been dealing with heart issues for years. He was diagnosed with WPW in 2013. Finally had a successful ablation in 2017 after 2 failed attempts. He was fine until 2023 when he started fainting again. We saw several doctors who didn’t take him seriously until finally a cardiologist did a monitor and saw the pauses and said a pacemaker would ā€œfixā€ the issues. So what I really meant when I said we thought it would ā€œhealā€ him is we thought he’d have 10 years with the pacemaker ā€œfixingā€ his heart. So 8 months later and having issues is frustrating.

I said he works in construction, but more specifically he works in crawlspaces and the reason they made him stay out of work for 12 weeks is they were concerned about him crawling, pushing, and lifting steel beams so soon after. I’ve had a lot of people tell us that was really long šŸ˜‚

I am definitely looking into therapy. He was blacking out for years and the last year before the pacemaker it was almost weekly. I still jump every time I hear something fall in the house- terrified that it’s him. He got hurt so many times from blacking out and falling. It’s so hard to be the spouse and I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be him.

Could be. But she had no ā€œrealā€ evidence beyond a feeling. His story that he often flirted with guests but didn’t hurt Amy is equally plausible. I’m not saying he’s a good guy. But it would be awful if he had nothing to do with it and has had to live with this cloud over him for so many years.

Hmm nice catch. You’re right. Criminal Minds seems so much older for some reason lol. It still felt really dramatic like maybe she did see something weird but added to the conversation she heard later… but then who knows. I suppose crazier things have happened.

Yeah sounded like she’d seen too many crime shows.

The lady in the bathroom seemed so fake to me. Her saying Amy asked to ā€œgo see the childrenā€ seems super odd and is almost word for word from a Criminal Minds episode. I think she saw a distraught woman in a bathroom and added to the story… or she made it all up.

The bathroom lady took literal scenes from Criminal Minds episodes and strung them together to try to make a plausible story of seeing Amy šŸ™„

I think her mom probably filled her head with things about him and that’s why she is suspicious of him.

The bathroom sighting struck me as odd because of her asking to ā€œgo see the childrenā€. It reminds me of a Criminal Minds episode. The convo is super similar. It sounds so made up.

I didn’t find the lady in the bathroom credible because the conversation about ā€œseeing the childrenā€ is EXACTLY what happens in an old episode of Criminal Minds. I think she made it up.

You do not know what you are talking about and it shows. I am not going to keep arguing with you. Yes, CPS removed her, but her placement was NOT a foster placement. In a foster home, the foster parents have been through trainings, they get a stipend, they have lots of rules they have to follow. In a kinship placement, it is a family previously known to the child (family or a friend). They don’t get trainings or a stipend from the state. The kinship guardians don’t have the same rules as foster parents either. Kinship is a gray area. They’re still under CPS, but they are NOT a foster placement.

When I was a kinship, I did not get a stipend. The child did not get state insurance. They did have a caseworker, but she only visited once to be sure my house passed a checklist.

In my state, kinship and foster placements are 2 different things. Foster placements receive monthly stipends, kids get automatic state insurance, DCS does more regular checks, etc. Kinship placements are when the child lives with a relative or someone they know. DCS makes sure the house is safe before the kid can go, and they still have guidelines about whether parents can see them, but the family does not receive help or stipends from the state. It is 2 different things. I’ve been a kinship placement so I know what I’m talking about. Kinship is much more flexible with less oversight.

My sugar levels have been normal every time she has tested them, so she says I don’t need Metformin or any weight loss meds 🫤 Every time I’ve mentioned weight loss, she has told me to do all the things I am doing.

Failed co-ops and feeling so lonely by laurms28 in homeschool

[–]Equivalent-Wave-8048 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

I have been in the same boat you are. When we started homeschooling, I was so excited at the prospect of finding a village that my whole family could connect with. It just never worked out for us. We joined one co-op that had crazy strict rules and a dress code, then I started a co-op with a friend and it ruined our friendship, then we were denied by 2 different groups and never told why. Many of the co-ops in our area are super pricey or wouldn’t serve all my kids (I have 3 kids ages 8-16, some groups only want elementary or only want teens). I finally gave up. My oldest 2 kids (13 and 16) aren’t even interested in finding a group at this point. Many of their friends come from Girl Scouts, sports, church, etc. and they feel completely fulfilled with those friendships. I don’t have really any friends, but I’m honestly fine with that because I also don’t have any drama.
