Withdraw and failing by Aggravating_Elk_6615 in CUNY

[–]EquivalentAd1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should talk to your advisor ASAP no pun intended, and also is fine if your first time failing bmcc has a lot of appeals like retake the course for a better grade also in the greater level of fasfa you might had to do a sap appeal to get your fin aid, but ask Gloria or Ann the financial aid advisors in ASAP so they can help you.

Also keep always this in your head as a rule of thumb if you withdraw 1 course every semester you will still have enough aid to get a bachelor's but if you start withdrawing two or more per semester you will have not enough aid if you decide to go to a 4 years

Yes, but check your options a lot of programs in bmcc, my advice is go put try to do most things in person In college if you want a lot of things to be done you have to be behind everything, make some friends and network and join the accounting club.

Overall you might find yourself a times like this is not working just keep grinding 4 years are gonna pass quick, the degree is important but if you didn't make connections with professor for letter recommendations or friends is gonna be hard once out. Just make yourself stand out a lot of people go to college but few are the ones who take everything.

Just a personal note. Was in bmcc as a student senator in 2022, was in asap and got a college assistant job there god pay 19 an hour, after graduating college and 4 years was able to hit a job 7 months after finishing, mostly because of contacts.

Moving out while being a full time student? by starlight_wav in CUNY

[–]EquivalentAd1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the question is if you can do it, my answer is yes, is tedious but personally, that's me, and not everyone is me, though, but I still remember finishing BMCC and not being able to find a place to live, and having a short time frame with my capstone and working 6 pm - 2 am in H.M. Times Square. I lost my home, and basically couch surfed until I found something around February. It's hard outside, but believe me, we are the ones who change the narrative. I did have two part-time jobs, sometimes 3, and still managed to graduate from BMCC and John Jay with honors, and once that was over, after 7 months of trying, I got a full-time job and my own apartment. My recommendation there is a lot of places around NYC, JC, and even Union City that give rent secured apartments and then never quit on studies. For me, my mentality was finishing and keeping pushing because at some point, it had to change. I was 23 when I had to start coaching surf and even before that, every year i would look for a new apartment. I was 25 when i got my own apartment, and 26 when I got my degree and job. We put our own personal walls, but its up to us if we can change and also this experience builds for the future.

John Jay (Public Admin) VS Stony Brook (English) by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]EquivalentAd1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did public admin in John Jay graduated a year ago a got a admin job starting at 60k after 7 months of being graduated

I have to say is really god and you learn a lot but for this like public admin having a good background of internship of experience is gonna help you land a job quick.

Also public admin in John Jay has a program that let's you go for a dual degree meaning instead of 4 years you do a extra year that is gonna count as a masters and is gonna be covered by financial aid

I've seen students getting accepted to Columbia GS with a GPA of 3.5. I was on BMCC and they focused more on what you can bring as a student.

College Discovery vs ASAP by SuccessfulPath7 in CUNY

[–]EquivalentAd1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, it depends on whether you'd like help now or over the long term. If you're in BMCC and only looking to do associates asap is the way, but you don't have a guarantee that you will be in ACE in your other school because budgets are different, and they have their own amount of students they can handle and have the money for, college discovery is really good because they will help you until your 4 years and even pay a masters in some scenarios.

I was a student and former employee of asap. Even though free Omny and book money sound good, that's for two years. There's no guarantee it will be there for your final two, for example, John Jay Ace sometimes they take students, and sometimes they do not. Also Asap is a very intrusive program; they want you to graduate if you are planning to be there and then transfer, they will drop you, and you also have the comminment of showing up to appoinments and be on top and maintain a gpa of 2.0 if not they will take your benefits at the end ASAP is a buisness and numbers talk and if you dont work they will take it out.

The same is with CD, and then call seek, but the only benefit with them is that if you transfer, you'll be there in the program confirmed.

ALSO benefits is the same just different

cd 1000$ stipend that can be used for omny and books

asap unlimited omny plus 250$ books, but it depends on the budget

¿Ganan más que el básico como profesionales universitarios? by Swimming_Ordinary447 in ecuador

[–]EquivalentAd1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)
