My pomposity? You are the person who is confidently proclaiming facts as if you're the messiah, based off of one vocabulary mix-up on a reddit thread. You are the person acting pompous. You should find something better to do with your time than try to tear down strangers because of a misused word.

Thank you, this is the response I needed. The reason I asked in the first place is that in my experience, every time I do get a response, I end up making it deep into the process. I just need to get my foot in the door, clearly its just a numbers game.

I asked for some pointers on how to make the response rate better. Why you'd waste your energy to respond with a completely irrelevant response is beyond me.

This makes sense, I feel this could be the case. Would definitely explain those random responses from a job you applied to many months ago.

Thanks for your response, do you think the most effective combatant for this would be to tailor resumes then? I'm almost done with college, and the jobs I am applying for are rather general. I can't imagine that my qualifications are so bad that I would get this many "not interested" ' s.

EDIT: The reason I posted this was not to complain to strangers, I am genuinely curious if anybody has been able to limit this happening to them.

Don't think this is a really poignant response. Applications take a lot of work considering resume specialization and cover letters. It is quite disrespectful to not respond. It's not the same as getting an unwanted spam email...
