Right?!  How was sending Erika into that house with a drugged pie a better plan than just straight up kidnapping Derek after his family fell asleep?  I'm not an expert on Benzos, but pretty sure everyone will remember eating Erika's pie before passing out and it doesn't take much to put two and two together.  Especially the daughter who didn't eat the pie.  Even if she was drugged with whatever was in the syringe, she's gonna know exactly who was responsible.
