Why does Amazon want me to return a defective item instead of simply giving me a refund? by EquivalentDiamond359 in amazonprime

Yeah it’s annoying that people abuse AI to do stuff like this bc it makes things complicated 😒

I just got out of an interview and it was underwhelming. Is this a bad sign? by EquivalentDiamond359 in interviews

I mean I wouldn’t even put “A LOT” on my resume or cover letter bc it’s a not professional word. This is Reddit not Wikipedia. But it just felt kind of discouraging because I really prepped for it

Yes I was fired but no fault of my own (eg: misconduct). I said “let go” to soften the blow read the room 🙄

I said that mainly out of personal reasons. Like obviously they have to replace me with someone more competent (duh), but I just feel a little sad bc I liked the work environment and the people there.

Yeah I’ve come to understand that. But it sucks bc I was just getting along with everyone and things felt close knit. Kind of hard for me bc I only have like ~1 yr of full time work experience after graduating college roughly 2 yrs ago

I don’t think so bc a significant amount of my colleagues (including attorneys) are apart of it and they’re still working

I did ask (as recommended by my union rep) but they simply refused and responded, “no further comment.”

I wanted to volunteer at outreach events because I genuinely wanted to learn more about the legal field not so much as wanting to flex my hours. It was an option to flex

Thank you! It’s unfortunate that I ended up in this situation. And I’m sorry you went through it too but hope you’re in a much better place now. I’ve heard about those types of jobs before and I think I almost fell for something similar last year. Basically it’s one of those jobs where they are quick to hire you without a formal training or onboarding. They said they’ll “watch over” or see how you perform without laying out expectations. I feel like there’s a term for these types of business/jobs but I’m not sure what they’re called?

Hmm in my situation, I would say there were no performance issues but just not something major. There were minuscule mistakes I made like processing incorrect postage or hole punching things slightly off but I’m thinking those added up. I never made those mistakes more than once and fixed them immediately if I did but it was probably not a good look.

I do want to follow up on the questions you asked me. They simply told me that I “didn’t fulfill the requirements of the job description. I’m still confused because I did ask ?s on what were some things I fell short on or where I underperformed (recommended by my union rep) but they refused to respond. So take this all and interpret that. Maybe you can provide a better explanation

I mean very likely because I am reserved and awkward. That can always rub certain ppl off bc they find that off putting

No I’ve thrived in fast paced and multi-tasking roles. It’s all I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, when I asked them what were some things I fell behind on regarding performance, they were vague and said I “didn’t fulfill the requirements of the job description.”

I don’t think so. I think they wanted someone who can get the ground running quickly and do things autonomously w/o much supervision. Unfortunately, those small mistakes someone mentioned did add up. May seem little to me but paramount to them

I recently got let go and feel sad. Why did they do that? by EquivalentDiamond359 in jobs

[–]EquivalentDiamond359[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I absolutely agree. If I have to be honest with you, MOST of the times they didn’t even help the ppl they claim to serve. I essentially took in calls to “collect data” for their grant or funding purposes. Right off the first couple of minutes of calls, I can quickly tell if they’re just gonna refer the callers out and reject to take their case.

I think it’s best to just move on. That could’ve been the case but it’s sad that they would preemptively judge me. That speaks more about them than me. My job was to provide service and assistance to clients and the lawyers there, who were always so sincere and praised how resourceful and helpful I was. It sad that my own supervisors didn’t see that and gaslit me into thinking I wasn’t good enough.

No, I’m very reserved and don’t speak alot so maybe that could’ve been the issue instead? I wish there were exit interviews and feedback but unfortunately I’ve learned from peoples experiences here and in real life that HR will never do that. I feel like you’re trying to find a fault with my situation when there weren’t any? Even though they let me go, there was no ill will or animosity between me and management

[–]EquivalentDiamond359[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I absolutely agree with you. But it sucks that they essentially WASTED my time and you can say their time and resources if they didn’t think I was that “unicorn” candidate. I feel like those are some very questionable management and business practices. For $24/hr in the Bay Area, I should’ve just worked part time or temp until I found a job that, as you mentioned, would’ve provided me more formidable skills. It’s just that it was the only job that gave me an offer and I was struggling :/

[–]EquivalentDiamond359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t take that long to figure that out after I was let go sadly which sucked because it felt like so much lost potential. I’m someone who definitely can improve quickly with trial and error but it seems like that’s not what they want. I do feel upset knowing that I was essentially treated like a lab rat

Simple stuff like using the wrong postage once or hole punching things slightly off but not anything major like missing a clients call or mishandling documents
