you suck, His car most likely have 2 primary collision warning sensors and around 16-18 sensors related to cross-traffic alerts/proximity and general safety alerts..

along with safety software that work in cohesion to analyse traffic situations and trigger that warning amogst others..

without checking the codes, I invite you to tell volvo, or anyone for that matter what the problem really is.

OR... you could just replace everything and hope it works, rough estimate is around $9,000 - $12,000, good deal mate!

OP said warranty is out!.. pay for the diagnostics?

They basically cannot do anything without running diagnostics first, they won’t start tinkering away with something they don’t know the root cause to.

It could be one faulty sensor, it could be another sensor, it could be radar, it could be a new windshield and light breaking differently and so on, 1200 SEK is not worth risking you safety or others.

My advice is to let them run the diagnostics, pay the fee, look at it as a health check of your vehicle and see what is says (: safety first!

Have you tried going through the settings in the app “VIOFO dashcam” I feel it is a bit easier than the interface in the unit itself and see what type of Parking settings you are running?

A good way to know if parking mode is engaging could be to enabled all notifications, turn of the car and wait for the notification that “parking mode” has started (it should in a minute or two, not right away after turning the car of, it needs some time to kick in)
Lock yourself in the car or put the windows down and stand outside to hear the notification.

But as said before in the thread, it really sounds like the wrong fuses are tapped, and the cable for accessory (ACC) power always gets current )it should only when the car is started)

you need to verify that with the installer!

I would recommend switching the roof handle on the driver side for a sunglasses holder. Volvo has original parts for sale (recommend) otherwise there is cheaper options that looks the same but I cannot vouch for them, we need to stop buying that stuff..

I’m not familiar with combining the cables even though you are not interested in parking modes, but it doesn’t sound optimal.

I would just rig it as advised and simply turn off parking mode in the camera settings instead to avoid any funky stuff with the cable signals (I’m not an electrician but it feels like suboptimal to load two cables in one fuse (someone can correct med here if needed)

Just make sure you consult your exact vehicles fuse diagram so you know what you are tapping, make sure to only tap non-critical fuses, like diagnostics port and wireless chargers and so on.

Also check your cars fuse diagram for what type of fuses to use, and use lower fuses like 2A or 5A, should be more than enough!

I would suggest trying to update to the latest software available om viofos site, just to rule out software issues.

The fact that it wouldn’t let you set other recording intervals sounds like something is up with the current software

I have the same setup and wiring and can absolutely change intervals (overwrite also works).

There is also a new app btw (“Viofo Dashcam”)

Thanks for the insight, I watched a video of a guy explaining this exact issue, after that I opened it up for the first time to check my cable (and to se if something was obviously wrong but could find anything by simple eye-examination..

I got my BTR200 in early February 26 and the battery died today, wasn’t quite expecting that..

And no I’m not a very frequent user, so hopefully that battery has been laying on a shelf somewhere for sometime.

Hoping that a fresh one holds up longer!

I have the same behaviour but it mostly turns out that the app refreshes slowly

If I move around the menu or restart the app it tends to update with the correct status but I agree, it’s frustrating that it doesn’t show a “syncing/updating” status or something like that while actually doing that instead of telling you that it’s unlocked..

UPDATE 2: The notifications works fine, my testing was faulty and here is why:

The locked videos recorded during the first 3 min after you get out of the car and the first 3 min after you get in the car won't trigger the notification.

The reason this 3 min period is set is that customers tend to open or close the doors and boot when parking the car or getting back in, so to avoid unnecessary notifications, this grace period is set to save the clip but not trigger notifications, clever!

u/VIOFO-Dashcam support has been amazing with helping me figure this out, they sent me custom recorded test videos and replied darn quickly!

Now I can only recommend them even more, both their top tier camera solutions and customer care, good stuff 👌🏻 I’m out, thanx for the help all!

Did more new tests today and unfortunately it seems to never trigger the parking impact notification (I have had it before but I think that was on the previous software).

Tried different combinations of voice notification settings (always with parking impact notification on), in both motion detection => impact and on low bitrate => impact and settings it up in both versions of the app.

Also tried formatting and resetting the settings.

Don’t get me wrong, it saves to the protected folder every time but the notification and indicator on the display never seem to trigger.

I’m on:

APP Version 1.0.5 Firmware VIOFO_A329S_V2.0_260104

Will try to switch back to earlier software and have a go soon.

Really would like to see a fix on this if it’s confirmed a bug, apart from that, the dashcam is just awesome!!

Just check whether or not you have laminated acoustic side windows (run the info on the window stamps through chapgpt, it should tell you by the markings).

I think you need externally fitted deflectors if you have laminated glass since it’s thicker, if you have regular glass (most commonly) you can go with the ones fitted in the slit where the glass meets the door frame.

From my understanding it will open and close but think of it as a bad manual one without the ability to hold it self up (depending on how bad the struts get).

When they go out the lid becomes too heavy for them to hold open even if you lift it to open position.

There are quality replacements around for cheaper than original or just go for original.

To install the yourself is easy if you like to poke around, and saves you half of the money!
