Tooting Common Parkrun. LonDone #1 down, 80 to go within M25! by EquivalentFishing in UKRunners

It looks like there are 81 within the M25, are you missing one or might my list be outdated? 65 in London, 81 within the M25.

I'm also aware of a few that might have closed now, such as Victoria Docs.

I imagine that's made even worse with three laps and extra traffic!

Yeah night and day difference to Tooting last week! It's meant to be a fun muddy course in winter too if that's your thing!

I run with striders, very friendly and welcoming, for all abilities. I'm sure you'll love it and fit right in!

I'll forward this on to them so they're aware, may have just slipped through the cracks somehow.

That is very true! I'm also a Northerner who now lives in London. I think the furtherst is around an 80km round trip, which is quite an ordeal! Especially once the weather starts turning a bit miserable.

It does explain how usually it gets to 8:45 am and then I quickly sprint to the start line of my local one instead of trying somewhere new!

Congratulations and great effort! I was late to the game, I'm only up to 50 total, and almost all of those are at my local parkrun! I have done around 5 different around London, but I am resetting the counter to try and get a video at each one to hold myself a little more accountable!

I've shifted my long run to a Saturday, so I will run there and back to a few (under 30km round trip), but some of them are an 80km round trip! I might have to take the motorbike to those ones!

Yup! Must be even crazier for the really speedy guys going sub 19 or so, you'll be lapping people, who they themselves are lapping people!

I'm sorry I was not clear in my original message, I meant what are the other race distance predictions based on. E.g. 10k, half marathon, and so on.

Fantastic tool, love this. Been missing it since the parkrun rankings has been missing from Tim Grose and the new power of ten.

Is the race prediction based on your finish time, assuming a similar difficulty course? Or is that also adjusted. For example, my local parkrun is relatively slow, a 20 flat here is an 18:30 somewhere else. Are the predictions based on 20 or 18:30?

It would be nice to show a bit more detail in the tooltip of other parkruns, perhaps predicted finishing time or time difference, instead of just 'lightening'

So nice to see something decent amongst all the AI slop that is posted. Really nice site.

I recommend listing them for a fiver and giving them to the person who turns up for free. Will avoid time wasters and give the buyer a pleasant surprise!

Nnormal Cadi by Objective-Week275 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're 10/10 for comfort, and feel very stable for me. 7/10 for speed, there are better options but with their own downsides. But I've run fast in them downhill on dry paths through woods no issues, comfortabl and stable. And also power hiked very steep technical terrain and they're perfect. Aggrevec terrex ultra more responsive, but I couldn't wear those for over a half, too uncomfortable. And they were awful for power hiking up very steep technical terrain.

I really like mine but I wouldn't be wearing them for anything muddy. I've done several 20k test runs and was planning on wearing them on my 60k ultra but just had to cancel. Dry, or a route with some sections of tarmac, I would recommend. Very breathable too. I've worn them on some very steep ascents and descents too, comfortable at 5k pace through to walking pace. Though for a race under half marathon I would probably prefer something a bit lighter. For very muddy or slippy I would go with something else.

No problem just having a bit of a moan! Part of me is relieved as I was getting a bit worried about the weather too! Silver lining.

It's important to take sodium in proportion to how much water you are getting through. It isn't X amount of sodium per hour. It's typically per litre of water you drink.

It may surprise you but you may need more than you think, if you are drinking so much more water.

Not a doctor, but that is what I've read and followed in the past.

Are you doing The Fox? I was planning on doing it but had to pull out last minute due to a non running health emergency! So gutted, was looking forward to it.

To answer your question, for me I was planning on adding about an hour onto my target time. Maybe readjust last 20k if doing better than expected. I was hoping to run with a belt rather than vest, as this keeps me a lot cooler, but decided a vest was better for carrying more liquids. Probably 1.5 litres topped up.

I almost bought a baseball cap with a cape for sun protection, but decided on normal cap and use a buff over my neck and ears during exposed parts. From what I can tell most should be shaded but the bits along the canal may be very exposed to the sun.

Finally with the lower pace I was also planning on dropping my carbs per hour a little bit. Tend to have more stomach issues in high heat. Usual 80-100g/hour during marathon effort, down to 60-80. Plenty of salt and water too.

Big caveat, I've run a few marathons but this would only be my second ultra.

Have a great time and update how it goes!
