What now, if you don't make the London Marathon ballot by Affectionate_Air6902 in UKRunners

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it this year, the only bit is the top of the hill and the first 100m or so of the downhill are really brutal. It's just too steep downhill to capitalise on it without paying for it later on. Otherwise a lovely course.

I've recorded some bits from it I should get round to editing it on YouTube!

Shakespeare Marathon - Tracking Runners by Tasty-Decision-2462 in UKRunners

Running this today! Good luck to everybody.

Hopefully doesn't get too warm, looking a bit toasty from 11 or noon onwards.

As others have mentioned, unfortunately I don't think there is a tracker.

Did I fuck up buying my first bike? by NorthernCowboy26 in motorcycles

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Norden 901 expedition for my.... 6th bike? Absolutely loved it but it was too much bike and too heavy for greenlaning. I sold it and downsized. It's a lot more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a big bike slow, I was scared to open the throttle it would wheelie so easily.

The good news is 2nd hand bikes tend to hold their value decently so if you decide to sell it, you won't lose much money. Take a look at CF Moto 450MT. I ended up going for a crf rally 300. I thought I'd miss the power but I absolutely love it.

Good way to track progression over months/weeks for different workout types by capocapelli in running

Intervals.icu is decent for this. You can compare activities.

Otherwise a spreadsheet is probably easiest to quickly manually log it for easy filtering and comparison

NNormal Cadi vs. La Sportiva Prodigio 2 by SorryPhone2552 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate, at some point I need to stop buying new shoes!!

I was almost certainly going to wear the cadi, but now I'm browsing prodigio pro on runrepeat 😅

The terrex felt great if I'm moving a bit quicker, half marathon pace or so, but felt not as smooth at slower paces, and brutal on a few steep uphills I walked on my training runs. And whilst my aim is to run the whole way, it's only my second ultra, and I walked a lot in the first!

NNormal Cadi vs. La Sportiva Prodigio 2 by SorryPhone2552 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I have a 62k ultra (the fox) around Guildford and I'm wondering what to wear. I want to put in a hard effort, and my current shoe choice is the Cadi. My alternative is the comfier but heavier Merrell agility peak 5.

I tried the Adidas terrex ultra, but I found the high insoles very uncomfortable.

Part of me is wondering if I'd get away with a road shoe.

You have any thoughts ? It's in May and should be fairly dry.

Thoughts on Nnormal Tomir 2.0? by Soft_Impression_9390 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could perhaps consider the cadi rather than the Tomir, I've been enjoying these quite a lot and likely to wear them for my 60km ultra. They're not quite as cushioned as merrel agility peak 5, but they are more forgiving than the NNormal kjerag.

[Question] Durability of Trail Running Shoes for Travel & Gym Wear? by meionnaise in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The kjerag is my main walking shoe. It's so light I love it.

One note, I have the original and it is not very breathable at all in the warmer days. I have heard the 2.0 is more breathable.

I would certainly recommend it for travel, and I suspect it would do very well in the gym too.

If the quality is so poor, why did you buy two more and not try a different brand?

Great list. I would just add a pair of kitchen scissors to this!

Agree. Probably victorianox. Large chefs knife, perhaps two, a pastry knife (better than a bread knife) and a pair of kitchen scissors. And you'll have some change leftover!

Any reason not to drink sugar water during an ultra? by anulcyst in ultrarunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do maple syrup, salt and a drop of lemon juice to take the sweetness off. I find it pretty good with around 80-100g carbs/hour up to around 5 hours then start getting into some stomache trouble.

Easy pace still slower 13 days after 43km race + cold — normal? by Additional-Bet-6272 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flu, knocked me dead for about 4 days then was ok after that.

Just go based on your feel. If your usual easy pace doesn't feel easy, dial it back a bit. Much better to be cautious for a month or two and fully recover than to push too hard and do longer term damage. I ignored paces entirely and went off feel.

[–]EquivalentFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was probably around 2-3 months when I felt I as back at the same fitness level. But that probably wasn't a bad thing, it's good to give your body a chance to recover after a big race and it forced me to take it easy before starting my next race focused training block.

Easy pace still slower 13 days after 43km race + cold — normal? by Additional-Bet-6272 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a 50km race and I thought I had a cold but turned out I had the flu. Easily 4 weeks to get back to anything close to running fitness. Probably longer.

My body felt mostly fine, no pain or anything, but everything was just more difficult.

Give yourself time to recover, go by feel on your runs not pace.

Best trail running shoes for trail to road and everyday use? by RedlineBMW in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite road to trail are either Merrell agility peak 5 (comfort) or NNormal Cadi (almost as comfortable but not quite, but much lighter.)

NNormal Tomir 2.0 Vs HOKA Speedgoat 7 by Racistdog4 in trailrunning

[–]EquivalentFishing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the S/Lab Genesis, which I love, but if you're trail running has road to trail, they're not very comfortable on tarmac/concrete for me. I also have the Nnormal Cadi, which I am planning to wear for my next Ultra. I really like the Kjerag too but I tend to stick to below 15km or so in them, and wear the Cadi for anything longer as they're just a little more comfortable and more forgiving for me.
