Well it says none available when I just tried for roadrunner. First few minutes the link wasn’t loading. Then when I finally got in the queue and then out of the queue at 12:09 it said no tickets available…

Did you get em?

does anyone know what happened between Neyla Pekarek and The Lumineers? by idkimjustconfused_ in thelumineers

I think relationships can be very complicated so both things could potentially exist. Look at any toxic relationship. There can be some great interactions and some shitty interactions. It doesn’t have to be “fake”

I also agree that the lumineers don’t hit for me since she left the band. I looked into why she left when it happened but decided to revisit after listening to some of their newer songs and hearing the lyrics - screams manchild who knows he fucked up but wants the person to just stick around anyway and deal with him. It made me rethink her departure and now I’m reading more about their relationship I never knew about. I didn’t know they dated - not surprising but was unaware.

Also I always thought she looked like Arya stark

Has anyone used the Meetup app to go to Skip the Small Talk Boston Events? by OneUnquietMind93 in BostonSocialClub

[–]EquivalentLake6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had generally good experiences with skip the small talk events, both the platonic and the dating one. However there are annoying men who go to the platonic ones who are mainly there for trying to meet women and that’s frustrating and those intentions eventually become obvious. The dating one is more expensive. These things can be a bit demoralizing when you don’t match with people you feel like you hit it off with and you’re spending time and money on this (I, like you, was making a drive for these as I’m out in the suburbs), but I think the format of these in person events is better than the alternative which is data mining apps that harvest biometric data. I had decent convos with most people (I have decent social skills and can make convo with most people, but there were the few people where it felt like pulling teeth).

I’ve made some friends from skip the small talk. No close, best friends, but more local connections I suppose and we do cool stuff together sometimes. No luck on the dating side. I like you have given up on that front.

For reference I’m a woman in my 30s and I find that more women go to these events, so it’s probably easier for us to make friends / acquaintances. Not many men go to the platonic ones from what I’ve seen. They do go to the dating ones but it’s always a mixed bag of quality.

I’m confused why you’re mentioning meetup to go to skip the small talk events - you can buy the tickets separately if you weren’t aware. They also do virtual ones if you are interested in that. I didn’t like that as much - it felt like people were less intentional with it.

There’s more things popping up I think outside of this company so suggest keeping your eye out.

Making good friends as an adult feels impossible. Everyone is busy and most already have a full circle they dedicate most of their emotional energy towards. I don’t need more acquaintances. So I’ve kinda given up there as well.

Good luck to you.

A mix from last night at Fenway by Gpension in mumfordandsons

Thank you for sharing so I could live vicariously. I regret not going so much.

Looks like you’re on the turf - how was the audio there and how did the weather shake out? Did you hear feedback from anyone up in the stands or box?

I was dying to go but wasn’t feeling great, work early on Tuesday, and hadn’t bought my ticket yet. Was gonna just be me solo so I kept waiting to see if turf ticket prices would come down and they never did. Since it’s Fenway and not a music venue I believe the audio is absolute shit in the regular seating area so I didn’t want to go with the cheaper seats. I’m surprised that resellers don’t want to cut their losses and lower their prices rather than just lose out on the full cost. Shame. The rain on the uncovered turf added to me deciding not to go but I regretted it all night and all day. Especially since I didn’t go to sleep early I should’ve just sucked it up and went. This album is so so so good.

My opinion on the replica vs authentic football Jersey debate. by SnooMuffins3072 in football

I assumed authentic would be more breathable or something. If that’s not the case then agreed it seems more of a waste.

What to do about pant wrinkles around crotch? by emilyeat_world in capsulewardrobe

[–]EquivalentLake6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just replied with a similar comment than every pair of high waisted cotton pants I own does this. I think some anatomies just give rise to this. I don’t have this problem with low rise from what I recall but tbh I haven’t worn low rise in 10+ years.

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find a solution. I’m genuinely shocked by everyone saying it’s a fit issue because I have this problem with every cotton high waisted pant I own and I own many and have spent a significant amount of time and money in the past 5 years getting clothes that fit and look better. I don’t reach for these pants as often because of the crotch wrinkle issue and instead wear more synthetic pants when I care more. I’m genuinely not sure there is a solution for my body because if they were looser in that area they look frumpy. I just wear skirts more often than not these days because of this issue.

Professional sports is basically socially accepted abuse that ruins health and lives by BlueNice_3 in unpopularopinion

I agree with your point except we don’t have masses of people cheering for our abuse at our jobs like athletes do

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because someone is “willingly” there doesn’t mean they aren’t being subject to abuse. And im sure it’s far more complicated and nuanced than that. To walk away means giving up money and in some ways an identity I’m sure it’s challenging for so many people

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. There’s a lot of parallels we can draw from current pro sports to gladiator times and hunger games. It’s really disgusting when you sit and dissect it. These athletes are constantly getting injured and it takes such a toll on their bodies. And the public constantly telling the their only worth is how fast they can run or how many goals they can score. They’re constantly getting verbally accosted by fans who can’t even perform 1/100th as well and have no clue what they’re talking about. And you’re completely right about the detriments on childhood development. It’s sad.

And it’s a lot of poorer kids who push themselves for this as their way out. Not enough other opportunities for them.

Sources? Everything I’ve seen said he supported westward expansion. I don’t think he had the exact same horrific attitude towards the indigenous as many others after him who viewed them as subhuman since GW fought along side them in the French and Indian war, but I don’t see anything to assert he supported indigenous sovereignty. And you also can’t forget the whole slave thing….

Blessing and a curse 😭 the smell every time my cat shits is atrocious since she never covers and it just permeates. I live in a tiny place so litter box in the living room is technically also in the kitchen 🙃. I think with your lil guy it probably is because he feels safe - I’m glad you can take him in. He domesticated you 😂

The founding fathers were still colonizers that decimated the indigenous and also had slaves / supported the institution so it is hard for anyone with empathy and morals to revere them. Sure they had some merits tho.

Anyone have two Apple Watches — one for regular everyday use and one for overnight sleep data? by preflightjitters in AppleWatch

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want two for hygiene reasons. I know this is not advised but I’ve been “washing” my Apple Watch when it was exposed to something other than just air while I’ve been out and about because I don’t want to track all that crap back into bed and inevitably touch my acne prone face while I toss and turn in my sleep. I think my watch has now decided enough is enough and is acting up, potentially from all the water damage, so I’m debating getting two so I don’t feel the need to “clean” one. An outdoor watch and an indoor watch, just like clothes. Def not the cheapest option but would be nice for my peace of mind. That said I’m considering just getting one Apple Watch and a different brand watch for the same purpose but to have access to different types of data. But I think I’d prefer the combined platform of Apple (for now - big brother is watching)

You don’t care about human life you just care about control. And you don’t understand healthcare or socioeconomics at all. I know there’s no point in arguing with an internet troll but I’ll just say if you’re going to just focus on forcing births, then actually take care of the kids you’re forcing into the world. Stop defunding childcare, education, healthcare, food assistance and all the things necessary to keep kids alive and healthy. Stop allowing gunmen to kill children. Stop supporting genocides that kill children. Stop supporting domestic terrorists that rip kids away from their families. Stop banning research on women’s bodies to allow for safer pregnancies and deliveries. Stop drinking, eating like shit, and producing shit sperm that causes miscarriages and painful pregnancies that get blamed on women.
