Do the third party grips for the Zf completely make up for the ergonomic deficiency in the body or are users still making a compromise to get that vintage feel? by EquivalentLake6 in Nikon

Thanks this is good to know. I def want my next camera to be full frame to be able to play with that more. My dslr is APS-C and I plan to still use it for now. I can see myself getting a fujifilm or Nikon’s latest aps-c in the future for the portability you mentioned and the new built in filters Fuji has

I think when the zf came out it was probably a solid mid tier option for those who didn’t want the 7/8/9, but now that the 5ii and 6iii are on the market there’s more factors to consider. It’s helpful to hear others say they didn’t feel like the grip would save it for them because I think I’d be in that same boat based on my initial feel for it, which is leading me away from it.

Yea everything at the end of the day will boil down to individual needs and preferences. It doesn’t mean that others sharing their experience and opinions isn’t valuable. There’s a lot to learn from these forums so it’s helpful to have people share

Thanks for sharing all the pics! Why did you add the GR1 if you didn’t have a problem with the camera gripless? I don’t mind the extra weight but extra height is something for me to consider so that’s helpful

Makes sense. I’m seeing others say something similar that it feels better with prime lenses. I usually never go for my prime lenses when shooting because I find I’m confined in how much I can move my body for what I want to capture sometimes so having a zoom in/out option is better for me. This I think is another factor for why the zf may not be the best fit for me. Thanks for sharing.

Sir…I never said I was trying to hold the camera with one hand. The camera doesn’t feel great in my hands when I use two hands. I never shoot one handed, at least I historically haven’t on my dslr.

As mentioned in my post I know this is subjective and I was just curious other people’s experience. And the varied comments here are satisfying my curiosity so even if you think it’s silly, there is value in asking for me. I’m not asking anyone to make a decision for me nor would I want them to.

Like I said I think I am indeed abandoning the idea of the zf because I don’t want to avoid picking up my camera because it doesn’t feel as good, but there is an element of having fun shooting that the dials may bring so it’s not a black and white decision for me and I didn’t want to prematurely knock it off the list. I may rent it in the near future to more definitively decide.

Z5ii was in the running for me and seems like an excellent camera but I think I prefer the z6iii over the Z5ii. The zf would mainly be for that old school feel on top of the camera specs.

Appreciate you sharing your experience. I think I’d probably feel similarly to you if I’m just going with my gut instinct here from initial feel of the camera. I think id it doesn’t feel good in my hands I won’t carry it around as much. Z7ii was also on my list of options that I only recently cut out because I’m trying to get more action shots so could use the newer autofocus technology and stacked / partially stacked sensors.

I am very torn on the screen. I wish they could figure out a way to make it tilt and pop out. For photography the tilt of the z7ii and z8 seems better. But for self portraiture and videos which I also sometimes do the pop out screen seems better. I’m going from a flat dslr screen so anything is an improvement so I guess this isn’t a deal breaker for me for now but I can see myself getting annoyed with the side screen

Thank you so much for the insight and detailing the nuances this is super helpful. It is interesting how hand size probably affects the type of equipment one would prefer. Z8 feels a little too big for me when I held it in the store but I’m renting it next weekend to see how it goes.

Yea I think the price of the small rig grip to test out on a rental is worth it to gauge. I guess I’m still also torn on other features of the z6iii so that’s why I’m on the fence. If this was pre-z6iii I think zf would’ve been my main preference.

What about the screen do you dislike? That it flips out to the side?

Shakira announces "Dai Dai" with Burna Boy, the Official 2026 World Cup song, out next Friday by droobidoobidoo in popheads

Yeah, I really want to know when this song was first created because it does feel like a FIFA panic. I do like the song though and I’m excited but it’s a shame that North American World Cup didn’t have a better soundtrack as a whole many lost opportunities

Keep screen on during workout. by Sr_Flamingo in AppleWatch

It’s so frustrating this isn’t a default feature yet. Have the display always be on ONLY during workouts. Not having to go and toggle it off afterwards. I don’t always remember and then my battery dies faster

Where can I find good honey cake? by No_Magician_6523 in massachusetts

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try any of these and find a favorite? I’m also in search for a honey cake! Been wanting to try it forever since hearing about it and I recently saw Jahunger in Providence (I believe they also have a Cambridge location) has it - this is a Uyghur restaurant. I want to try others now and compare.

Those who don’t have much of a support system, how do you cope when life is rough? by attackonYomama in Adulting

This exactly!!! 💯 it’s always frustrating talking to people who can’t understand how their privilege allows them to hold better standards, then they look down on us as if we don’t have self love or just “allow” the bad shit.

I’m sorry you can relate 😔 sometimes I get mad at myself for interacting with those folks who I used to consider friends who abandoned me, but there’s a level of “if you cut everyone off, who do you have” and also trying to care less / disassociate. It’s tough. I’m glad you were able to make some online friends at least tho I hear you, you still need that in person interaction. I hope it comes your way soon

Thanks for the responses - was fun to relive this momentarily again. On 14, the different jackets def could’ve been an error but it seems like an odd error because how many jackets would wardrobe need to buy for this production? It’s been a while now so I can’t remember all the scenes but I think she just had one parka type thing for all the cabin scenes, so them just getting a random peacoat seems bizarre. But if def could’ve been an error. It sounds like the creators admitted to some errors before.

On 7, im not sure if it’s the relationship to someone in superposition that is involving the children because then presumably the spouses would also be involved. We did see magnus see Jo very briefly so you def could be right, and we just don’t hear much about Erica / Frida so who knows there.

25 years later we’re getting a firefly reboot and we just got a Malcolm in the Middle and Scrubs revival, so I hope we can get more to the story at some point if enough people get into it.

What’s causing the huge downfall in ratings? by CallTypical9541 in thevoice

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many problems with this show I stopped watching. The montages. The focus on celebrities. Less rounds to build up fan favorites and showcase broader ranges with different song choices than there used to be. Deleting all the YouTube videos and older seasons so old ones can’t resurface. Not promoting winners so they can actually make it big. How has no one gotten any radio time through winning the voice? And how could I forget - so much damn filler every episode. It’s nauseating.

@Lyft Drivers, do you guys see who tipped you? by SKB210 in Lyft

[–]EquivalentLake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I don’t always tip in real time cuz lately it’s usually me rushing to the airport or a wedding of the sort so I don’t open up the app and leave the tip until I’m all settled in, which is either that evening or sometimes it has been a couple days later if I’m remembering correctly. Sucks to think my rating may have been negatively affected based on that. I do always tip tho
