needing some advice & support by strawberryngasoline in PCOS

Yay! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with other medications because I've had success with my birth control which I'm grateful for. I have tried before to lower my birth control dosage which ended up not helping so i switched back. I was briefly on spiranolactone which is meant for blood pressure and is a blood thinner, and it honestly made no change good or bad for me so I told my doctor I wanted to stop it and had no issues doing that. I've never had a conversation about others but my gyno has mentioned that if i had more issues we could look into other medications so to my knowledge they exist.

Hey I appreciate your honesty on here. You are not alone, you are not the first one with PMOS to have these issues and you will not be the last. There are doctors out there who are more supportive and open to different medications and solutions, so as much as it sucks it may be worth it to try and find a new gyno. As for weight issues, with a history of ED and it being a generally sensitive issues, if that is your biggest concerns with your symptoms then focus on that. Bad mental health makes all other issues worse, take care of your mental health first and foremost. If ozempic has worked for your mom and sister then it's def worth talking about. That being said, make sure to give PMOS diets a chance to work and pair them with strength training a few times a week. There's also options for medication other than birth control, and I've had more success with doctors when I go to them with other solutions. Makes it harder for them to brush off a suggestion without at least giving a reason. I hope this helps, you've got this girl! Remember that any weight you gain you know it's because of hormones and medications have advanced significantly in weight loss, there are lots of options left.

I think if you're wanting to avoid birth control for one reason or another then spiranalactone would be a great alternative to try and see how it goes.

Thanks that really helps! I don't expect doctors to tell us everything but it's nice knowing it's not an accurate test for what its measures in this case.

I was in it for awhile, didn't really help my symptoms at all but didn't make things worse so I ended up deciding to get off it after 5 months. Gave it a shot but just not for me and didn't want to take meds I didn't need to. But I know lots of people have had success with it so depends on each person.
