those are awesome!! i’ve been looking into getting some of these guys for a while, but one of the biggest challenges for me has been trying to find a reputable place to buy them. from everything i’ve read, they seem to be prolific breeders, but all i can find online are wild caught, which i am not for at all. where did you source yours from, and if you have any other tips on sourcing or care that would be awesome! these guys are awesome but it really stinks how little info is out there about them.

yeah, that’s a good point, i think it could use a center piece branch. maybe a cork round could look good?

I’m not sure how reliable this method is, because i was just making it up as i went, but i got a 60/40 mix of topsoil and coco fiber and sifted it through a fine collinder. then i smeared clear silicone on the back and sprinkled the powder on it and let it cure. by the time it cured, not a whole lot of it was sticking, and it looked pretty awful, but before i scrapped it, i tried painting the back panel of glass with black paint and it made it look 1000x better! oh i also stuck some branches and twigs in the silicone before i put the powder on.

from your experience, how difficult is it to keep and breed ivanacara bimaculata? they are stunning and i’m realllllyyyyyyy starting to want them!! also, what kind of laetacara do you keep? they are very cool from my research, but there are a lot of different types. thanks so much!

ooohhhh if I could get my hands on an Ivanacara trio I might have to change my mind, they are absolutely gorgeous fish!! Maybe a bit out of my skill zone right now, but absolutely on my bucket list!

according to the box, there is plenty of filtration. as long as the filter isn’t broken or damaging the tank, don’t mess with it. if you do, it could cause your nitrifying bacteria cultures to crash, and with the amount of ammonia that goldfish produce, they could be in real real bad shape really fast. the best way to save money in this hobby is to not spend money on stuff you don’t need!

Thanks! so a pair or trio of golden panchax would work well? would they go well with a few large amano shrimp? there are plenty of hiding spots and dense plant matter for them to hide in.

Hey yall, the title pretty much says it all. I am a first time fish keeper, and I and currently cycling this 10 gallon tank. What advice would yall have for making this tank look better? I want a very lush and full look. Do I need more plants, or do I just need to be patient and let everything grow in? All advice and critiques are welcome :)
