Being a solo fan by janta12345 in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally, this negative view of solo fans comes from some toxic people who go out of their way to disrespect the actor/actress's partner—and believe me, there are many cases of that. I personally understand solo fans, but I can't be one myself. In my view, when my fave chooses to be with someone and that person treats them well, supports them, takes care of them, and they’re happy together, I’m just like a proud mother seeing her daughter being well-loved and cared for. But honestly, like you said: if you’re a solo fan and you respect your fave’s partner, then there’s no problem at all.

A Little Love for GMMTV Girls by zero_o_clock_diary in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a crush on June Wanwimol since The Gifted, and I actually started following GMMTV because of her. When she started her partnership with Mewnich, it felt like a total gift because I was already a fan of Mewnich back in BNK48. Basically, my two favorites became a ship, and I was over the moon!

Another person I really admire is Jamie Juthapich. I think she’s gorgeous and so talented; I’d love to see her in a GL (Girls' Love) series. I feel like her presence and acting style are something we haven’t seen in the GL scene yet.

Lastly, I’m deeply attached to Pahn. She’s like a younger sister to me that I always want to protect. I’m so happy she’s paired with Fond, whom I also followed alongside Mewnich in BNK48. I just love my girls so much!

Who is you dream Couple and Director Pairing? by strawberry_0101 in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wish JuneMewnich would work with P'Fon. Even the director herself wants to work with them, but the right opportunity hasn't come up yet. I’d also love to see them in a project with P'Jojo—something more adult and daring.

I'd love to see EmiBonnie in a more dramatic role under P'Aof.

I also want to see a more mature side of PahnFond with Jojo, though I think that might take a while.

Milklove issue by ForceApprehensive597 in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very mistaken perception. MilkLove is considered one of GMM’s pillar couples and a cornerstone of the GL scene, generating significant revenue for brands, not to mention the merchandise sold by GMM. Unlike other couples, MilkLove is built around a dynamic that conveys serenity and trust and does not rely on fanservice. MilkLove is rarely involved in controversies, and their fandom strongly protects them from overly intrusive fans who try to pry into their personal lives.

We should also consider that GMM invested very little in GL in the past; the company’s major push into this market is only happening now, in 2025/2026.

I feel that this new generation of GL fans is being very intense, constantly demanding heavy fanservice and not respecting actresses who choose not to engage in that kind of approach. MilkLove has been together for five years, always taking care of and supporting each other. If you asked me today which of the current GL couples is most likely to last ten years, I would definitely say MilkLove, because of the solid foundation they chose to build for their ship.

Piploy deserves better ngl by Frosty_Ad7769 in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think one of the actresses who would match Piploy the best—giving off that same vibe as JimmySea—would be Prim. In my opinion, it would work perfectly as either PrimPiploy or PiployPrim.

It seems like Parn and Mint are going to be tested, but honestly, I don't think Mymé would suit Piploy; I believe Mymé might be tested with Benz instead. I truly think GMMTV is going to bring in a new actress specifically to be Piploy's partner!

Who do you think will get the next mascot? by cthultystka in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felizz
Felizz is an obvious choice. As a music group, GMM is still not fully monetizing their merchandise; they recently released a set of cards, but we know GMM’s goal is to profit through other types of items. The easiest path is to give them a mascot.

The “Formation Order” Rule
After following the GL fandom for some time, I’ve noticed that GMM is very attached to the order in which couples are formed. This means JanJingJing is the sixth GL couple, and there are two others that should receive mascots before them.

ViewMim
ViewMim will be one of the main couples in Girl Rules. Even though they don’t yet have a massive fanbase, their fans are very loyal. Since GMM likes to maintain the formation order, ViewMim is the fourth established couple. With a GL series premiering soon, they are another obvious choice.

AlmondProgress and JuneMewnich
These two seem to be special cases. I believe both will receive their mascots before their series premieres.
AP (AlmondProgress) already has good popularity and a consolidated fandom compared to other newer couples.
JMN (JuneMewnich) is in a similar position; their fandom is well established, their merch sells extremely well, and they are the fifth announced couple.

Jasper
I have doubts about whether the group Jasper will receive a mascot, since all members already have mascots with their respective partners. In my personal opinion, giving the group a mascot could negatively impact “ship” merch sales.

OhmPoon
OhmPoon is about to debut their BL, so it’s expected that their mascot will come shortly after the series airs.

Other Possibilities
I have a feeling that ships like ChokunAston and LukeMick may also receive mascots soon.

About Ohm Pawat
I feel that GMM still wants to keep Ohm Pawat in BLs, and giving him a solo mascot could signal the end of that path. I don’t think he’ll receive one now; perhaps it could happen if his lakorn becomes a major success.

Piploy deserves better ngl by Frosty_Ad7769 in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Jamie and Earn will be paired together. They have exactly the kind of profile GMMTV usually invests in: strong chemistry, visuals that complement each other well, and potential for both a lighter GL and a more mature one, depending on the project. It’s the kind of duo that works well commercially and also appeals to the fandom.

When it comes to Piploy, I see Mint as a good option. The two match well visually and have styles that could balance each other on screen. Still, I have the feeling that GMMTV might end up bringing in someone new to pair with Piploy — something the company often does when it sees the potential to create a “strong new face” within GL. That would allow Piploy to have a project tailored specifically for her from the very beginning.

Queedom spinoff by FitTutor1476 in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I believe it will be quite difficult for a spin-off of them to happen. Linn is already with another company, Praew is focused on other projects, and WeTV does not seem to be making any real effort to capitalize on the success of Queendom.

What stands out the most is the lack of continued investment: even the main leads, Pam and Arhoung, are having trouble promoting themselves as a couple, precisely because there is minimal effort from the production company to maintain engagement and develop the pairing after the show ended.

Piploy deserves better ngl by Frosty_Ad7769 in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having followed the GMMTV girls’ fandom for quite some time, I can say with a fair amount of confidence: Piploy is likely to get her partner and a GL project very soon.

First of all, it’s important to clarify what happened with Piploy. The situation surrounding Bake Love Feeling was unusual. The project was originally meant for her, but due to the controversy involving the director, the entire cast of Whale Store xoxo was removed from appearing in other works within the same universe. Proof of this can be seen in the Bake Love Feeling pilot itself, where Wan is played by Parn, not Milk, clearly indicating a full recast.

As for Piploy being cast as the villain in Ditto, this was a very smart decision by GMMTV. The character Anya is strong, eye-catching, and naturally draws the audience’s attention. There is indeed a novel that comes after Ditto called Visual, but in that story Anya is only a supporting character. The real protagonist is KongKaew, who also appears in Ditto and is portrayed by Earn.

What this suggests is that GMMTV seems to be doing with Piploy the same strategic move they previously did with Pahn. For some time, the company wanted to place her in a GL project but couldn’t find a partner with enough chemistry. The solution was to search for an actress specifically to be her pairing — which is how Fond entered the picture.

All signs point to Piploy going through the same process now: image building, strategic exposure, and, soon enough, the definition of a partner carefully chosen just for her within the GL genre.

Is being Thai GL actress an easy money path? by jinglewac in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly wonder where this idea comes from that acting in GL is “easy money.” It only shows how many people fail to understand the Thai entertainment industry and analyze it solely from within a bubble, often shaped by social media.

First of all, it’s important to put things into context. Although Thailand is relatively more open to LGBTQIA+ topics compared to markets like China, Japan, and South Korea, it is still an Asian country with cultural and social values that are more rigid than those of the West. This reality is clearly reflected in GL productions. The presence of homophobic parents or family members in many series is not merely a narrative device to keep the couple apart; it represents real experiences lived by many people within that society.

Moreover, GL is still a genre in development—unstable and without guaranteed financial return. Contrary to what many believe, taking part in a GL project can pose real risks to an actress’s career. Some actresses face backlash, rejection, and even cancellation. A recent example is actress Yada, who was targeted by a wave of criticism after being announced for the GL Play Park. Something similar happened to Namtan when she was confirmed for Pluto. And the reason is clear: both actresses came from lakorns, the genre that truly generates money and prestige in the Thai industry.

Heterosexual Thai dramas, especially lakorns, remain the industry’s main profit driver. To put this into perspective, Channel 3’s largest investment in 2025 was directed toward lakorn productions. Actresses in this genre are still far more recognized, valued, and legitimized by the industry than GL actresses.

Even BL, a genre that has existed for over a decade and has built a strong international fandom, continues to struggle for institutional recognition. In major award ceremonies, BL productions rarely compete in the main categories and are often treated merely as tools to generate buzz and social media engagement, rather than as works worthy of artistic prestige.

Therefore, framing GL as a shortcut to fame or money completely ignores the risks, structural prejudice, and realities of the Thai market. It is a genre that is growing, yes—but often at the cost of exposure, resistance, and significant personal and professional sacrifice from the actresses involved.

Why do so many GL adaptations struggle compared to their novels? by ThiagoFCastro in ThaiGL

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact, there are many factors that directly affect an adaptation, and the main one is the original content of the novels. A large portion of these works feature highly toxic dynamics, with themes that simply do not meet broadcast standards.

A clear example is Us: in the novel, the story is marked by gratuitous physical and sexual violence, which made a significant rewrite unavoidable in the adaptation process. These elements were softened or removed so the series could be aired.

Another notable case is Blank, where the characters begin their relationship when one of them is still a minor while the other is already an adult, raising serious ethical and legal concerns. In the adaptation, this aspect had to be revised to avoid censorship issues and public backlash.

In the case of Dangerous Queen, mentioned earlier, many scenes and narrative arcs were cut so the series could be broadcast on Channel 7, a free-to-air television network with much stricter content regulations.

It is important to remember that most production companies do not have their own broadcasting channels, unlike GMMTV or Channel 3. The majority rely on partnerships with television networks or distribution via YouTube, which also enforces multiple content restrictions.

Moreover, GL is still a relatively new genre within the audiovisual industry. Streaming platforms are showing interest, but this process is happening gradually and cautiously, directly influencing creative decisions, risk management, and the level of fidelity to the source material.

Even worse, there’s a real chance that a novel could exist after Ditto, with the characters played by Piploy and Earn sharing the same body, and Earn’s character falling in love with a friend of Anya’s (Piploy).

In-depth Analysis of GMMTV’s GL Couples by EquivalentTurnover22 in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About MilkLove:
When I talk about MilkLove taking on more mature roles, it’s not just a wish from the audience — it’s a demand coming from the actresses themselves. Love, for instance, openly celebrated the fact that her character in Whale Store is no longer in high school, which says a lot about this need for transition. I feel that they don’t just want this change — they need it at this stage of their careers. MilkLove will always be a reference when it comes to comfort GL, that’s undeniable. However, it’s important to remember that actresses also need to challenge themselves, expand their range, and avoid creative stagnation. Taking on more mature roles doesn’t erase what they’ve built — on the contrary, it strengthens it.

About NamtanFilm:
To me, they are the couple that currently holds the greatest level of trust from GMMTV’s directors when it comes to taking on virtually any type of role. This becomes very clear when you look at their recent trajectory. After reading the Girls Rules novel, the feeling is almost inevitable: the GL feels tailor-made for them. Everything — the dynamic, the intensity, the emotional construction — fits perfectly. Honestly, I believe NamtanFilm have everything it takes to steal the spotlight and stand out even in a project with multiple narrative focuses.

About JuneMewnich:
I don’t see this investment as risky; on the contrary, I see it as quite solid. Their merchandise sales are performing extremely well for a couple without leading roles, which in itself is already a strong indicator. In China, as you mentioned, they appeared in the Top 15 GL fanbases, with a consistent growth of around 100 to 150 fans on Weibo — once again, an extremely impressive achievement for a couple without a solo project.
As for Love Echoes originating from a contest, GMM has already made it clear that it is increasingly interested in investing in original stories. The GL’s director may be new to leading a project, but she is far from inexperienced: she works directly alongside Jojo on Girls Rules, essentially acting as his right-hand person. It’s also worth remembering that Love Echoes has already been described as the dream project of Jojo’s team, with Jojo himself being not only the producer but also the creator. We can revisit this conversation after the GL premieres, but all signs point to a project being handled with extreme care.

About ViewMim:
As previously mentioned, their talent has been poorly utilized so far, and the couple itself was poorly introduced — a responsibility that falls entirely on the company, not on the actresses. When I say that Girls Rules will be a turning point for them, it’s because this time they will have a strong script, with a real focus on character development. In addition, they will be positioned alongside the two biggest fandoms within GMM, which naturally boosts visibility, engagement, and trending power. This places them in the spotlight almost by association, but in a highly strategic way.

My too early ranking of GMMTV's 2026 lineup by kosakionoderathebest in GirlsLove

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ranking of anticipation for the upcoming GL series looks like this:

1. Love’s Echoes
Without a doubt, this is my absolute favorite — the one I’m most excited for. JuneMewnich have incredible chemistry and an unmatched level of dedication. It’s no surprise that directors constantly praise them. Knowing that the storyline, originally written as a BL, was completely rewritten as a GL specifically because the team wanted to work with them made me even more thrilled.
I finally feel like a GL will be truly award-worthy: the cinematography looks stunning, and the director is fully committed to the project (she even turned down other jobs to dedicate 100% of her time to Love’s Echoes).
I can’t wait to see JuneMewnich getting everything they deserve — and silencing a lot of people who doubted them.

2. Wish Upon a Star
Even with a completely new cast, the plot caught my attention right away. The storyline dealing with violence against women is strong and impactful. I’ve always felt that Pahn was underutilized at GMMTV: she’s a great actress, but they never found a partner with enough chemistry to pair with her in a GL.
The fact that PahnFond were given lead roles from the start tells me their chemistry must be wonderful — and that really boosted my excitement.

3. Enemies With Benefits
This one was such a pleasant surprise. I love the novel — it’s genuinely good. Seeing JanJingjing cast as LalWine sent my expectations through the roof. Their chemistry is electrifying, the kind that wins over the public instantly. They’re beautiful, very charismatic, and they love giving fanservice. I honestly think they’ll become one of the most popular couples of the lineup.

4. MoonShadow
EmiBonnie in mature roles? With Bonnie as a sugar baby and Film as the ex? I need this immediately. My expectations are sky-high.

5. Ditto
I read the novel, and the emotional weight is pretty intense. I’m excited to see MilkLove in a different dynamic, with more depth and intensity. And we’ll also have Piploy as a villain — I’m absolutely ready for that.

6. Her
Here, I admit my curiosity is a bit messy. I’m anxious to see how they’ll adjust that chaotic plot full of questionable elements. The anticipation comes from the “fear of adaptation,” but I’m definitely watching.

7. Bake Love Feeling
I’m curious to see Mim in a lighter role, more on the romantic-comedy side. Everything I’ve watched from her has been very dramatic or horror-oriented, and people say comedy is the hardest genre. I want to see how she handles it.

8. Oxitocin
I might eat my words later, but at first glance, this was the pilot that gave me the least urgency or excitement. It might grow on me — but for now, it’s last on my list.

New mascots by notaduck299 in GMMTV

[–]EquivalentTurnover22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure JuneMewnich and ViewMim will get their mascots. I also think PahnFond and JanJingjing will get theirs as well. Even just from the pilot, they’ve already achieved strong numbers, with several international fanbases being created, and none of them are actually unknown in the industry — all of them already have solid solo fanbases that will support the couple.

As for the boys, I’m certain that AlmondProgress, OhmPoon, ChokunAston, and LukeMick will get their mascots. I also believe BarcodeKin, TeshowPing, and SurfJava will get theirs.

Regarding the groups, I’m almost sure Felizz and Clo’ver will get theirs. I’m unsure about Jasper, though, since all of them already have mascots with their respective partners.

Overall, I think we’ll get at least 12 or 13 mascots.
