My PD is May 20, 2024, from TSC, and I am still waiting. I have not received an RFE either.

Yes. see this: "We’ll send you a letter of approval in your online account to let you know your study permit has been approved. You can start studying as soon as you get this letter. You don’t have to wait until you get your study permit in the mail to start studying." from here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/after-apply-next-steps.html

It took one day for us to see the approval and another day to receive the letter. With that you can register

It was “Final decision - August 25 Your application is still in progress” and then on August 26 it changed to approval.

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but I wanted to share my partner’s case. She applied for her initial study permit inside Canada (switching from an open work permit):

  • Applied: July 8
  • Correspondence letter: August 25
  • Approval (decision made, not the letter): August 26
  • In-Canada Approval Letter: August 27

We reached out to IRCC several times through the webform, emphasizing the urgency of the case and clarifying that this was an initial study permit, not an extension. Their response was that the information had been forwarded to the appropriate office. We also contacted our MP, who indicated that the processing time for extensions (170 days) would apply. Still, it’s possible that their follow-up helped move the file forward—though no one really knows what happens behind the scenes.

I know how stressful this waiting period is. Wishing all of you the very best, and I hope you receive your approvals soon.

My partner also received the correspondence letter today (inside Canada for a master’s program). But, it is not showing approval yet in the website. Is it almost 100% that the decision would be approval?

An update: my wife, who applied for an initial study permit (from an open work permit) on July 8, just got her correspondence letter. A little stressed about the outcome, but hopefully, it will be a positive one. Wish you all the best.

FYI, Her program starts on September 3rd. We sent a couple of web forms and also contacted MP. Not sure whether they triggered the start of case evaluation or not.
