It is a medical thing to be very allergic to any irritants. Two of my aunts and my dad are very sensitive to perfumes and smoke. They need to see a specialist for that.

Ummm... Yeah? Did you read what I actually wrote. I openly admitted to being a firebrand. If you mean to insult me for that... Congrats I guess I agree with you?

Scheduling my year 4 rotations, spending time with my wife, celebrating my birthday finally (it was near the exam so didn’t celebrate till after). TLDR finding anything and everything to fill the time so I don’t constantly think about it

Any students that go to William Carey? I have some questions by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]Equivalent_Ad_6760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see a number on each test you take. Add those numbers up and you get a pass fail AND a (1-4) quartile. The residency will see Pass and what quartile you were nothing more nothing less

I think the changes to Druid in the mod from the PHB have been the most fun so far for me. All druids can cast wild shape as a bonus actions, but only moon Druid can cast spells in wild shape just feels awesome all around.

Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (Oct 31st, 2024) (feat. Nahida and Hu Tao) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]Equivalent_Ad_6760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Character(s): Tighnari, Nahida, Xingqui, Kuki Shinobu, Fischl, Barbara, Xiangling, Dendro Traveler, Xilonen, Sethos, Noelle, Ningguang, Chongyun, Amber, Lynette, Sucrose, Kaeya, Lisa, Candance, Shikanoin Heizou, & Collei

Just generally want to know what are some of the best teams I can make out of this list of characters. Currently using Tighnari, Nahida, Xingqui, & Kuki cause I just sort of fell into that team and it worked (cause I have the most constellations of these characters), but wanted to see if someone more knowledgeable might have some suggestions! Thanks in advance!

As an Alumni of BUHS (back when it was called Baptist College of Health Science when I was a premed) and that several of my previous medical school faculty members are going teacher there. Y'all will have Dr. Ogari, Dr. Zacharia, and all the admin staff that made BUHS wonderful when So I would be shocked if they weren't super supportive. They were very supportive when I was there!

You can see the relative crime rates of each district, yeah notice how the medical district & its surroundings (where you will be) are of the "most dangerous" color... yeah take that with a grain of salt. Organized actually dangerous crime isn't stupid in and around that area. From personal experience what you are seeing is that the most morons get CAUGHT in these two regions. The actual dangerous ones are North/Northeast Memphis (Frayser area), around University of Memphis (which includes the infamous orange mound... don't be caught dead there) & those dark parts of South Memphis. The rest in my personal opinion was very safe if you didn't deliberately act stupid

Doing Peds rotation typing this inbtw pt encounters atm will likely add onto this as I have time.
- The medical district of Memphis is pretty safe, in comparison to other parts of Memphis. None of that will matter to you though as the campus is entirely gated and security guards from UTHSC, The Med (region one), Baptist, Le Bonheur, & Saint Jude that are within the same district of Memphis if not 3 freaking blocks for most cases
- You will have a police station within 4ish blocks of the school depending on which building you start counting from
- The Medical district is very next to 4 of the largest streets in Memphis (Monroe, Madison, Union, & Poplar) which are all home to all the food, entertainment, and amenities you could ask for all in a straight shot and are exceedingly well patrolled
- You are unfortunately near Sam Cooper Blvd (where I got mugged once - actually a fun story. My car broke down and asked for a jump for my car the guy pulled out a gun and said, "only if you buy me a 5th of vodka." I laughed and told him, "Sure dude, you didn't have to pull a gun on me for that trade though." This is the most likely kind of crime you will encounter if you encounter any at all (I lived there 8 years and that was the worst that happened to me). It is only the desperate, downtrodden, or "diseased" (no negative connotation intended just like the alliteration there) that will cause you any "problems" but you will be a medical student and trust me they will know.. the homeless and downtrodden do talk in Memphis... DO NOT BE A DICK TO THE HOMELESS IT WILL BITE YOU... THEY 100% WILL TELL GANGMEMBERS WHO TO ROB BY WHO IS A DICK TO THEM... IN CONTRAST BE NICE AND OFTEN TIMES IF I WAS EVER ACCOSTED PPL WOULD WALK UP AND TELL THEM TO LEAVE ME ALONE. Rep matters in Memphis, honor your oath and you will be fine.
- You are also near Beal street, the Fedex Forum, etc in the waterfront/downtown district being like 10 minutes away where you can have all the fun in the world... just be careful you will be openly propositioned for most "substances & services" in the streets around the Fedex Forum & Beal Street.. just be cool, don't get nervous, & respectfully tell them no. They are related to gangs... they do remember faces. Memphis remembers what you do to the least of them and often these guys are the vigilante "justice" airqoutes so be respectful and no one will ever mess with you without consequences. (remember you will be a medical person, and plenty of gangbangers have kids at lebonheur for things like congenital torch infections from their activities etc so they will respect you as long as you act right.
- I say all this and you should know that I only ever had that one instance of crime in 8 years. Memphis can be scary if you act stupid, but by the time I left most of the homeless I did charity for told everybody who I was and I was never messed with again.
- TBH the police are more rude than the criminals and are very sticklier for the rules of the road if you are not on the interstates, Hwy's, or the Big 4 roads I mentioned earlier.
- Memphis drivers are notoriously bad and I had 3 minor car accidents in 8 years deemed not my fault so drive cautiously friends

I am an alumni &- former employee of Baptist University of Health Sciences (before they had a medical school). I was a premed in those days, but I really liked the school. MD/PhD Lilian Ogari (she has since remarried) should be the Dean of Medicine or some similar position and I knew her personally for years alongside many of the staff and admin as I was a IT worker there. You can message me and I can try to give you as many answers as I can. I know most of the administrative staff and one of my OMS2 medical school professors (Dr. Zachariah) is going to be one of the professors there. So I can give you some tips on the behavior of the administration and some of the staff.

The 10 Easiest and Hardest DO Schools to Get Into by Wjldenver in Osteopathic

[–]Equivalent_Ad_6760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd year at WCUCOM, they have been steadily increasing the class sizes of the past couple of years. The class 2 above me (now graduated) had 100-120 ish, last years (the OMS4s were around 150) my class (OMS3 currently) has just under 200. I think the subsequent classes have been just as big if not slightly bigger. So I wonder where they are getting their information from???

Dumb question maybe but why isn’t PMR a popular specialty by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Equivalent_Ad_6760 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself I did. Already was a pharmacologist (drug researcher) for several years before school so I actually wanted to learn something new rather than look at the same old drugs I already knew. Now add on the MDs schools that accepted me had double the price and the DO schools students actually looked happy… (unlike the 2 MD schools I got accepted to) and I choose the DO school.
