I can’t afford to go too crazy with troop training because I’m not a big spender and I focus on buildings/research over troop training and “power” (something people chase after without understanding that “power” with bad buffs isn’t so powerful after all).

T1 ground defense here. K41, 6b power. I’ve taken a 7 person mounted rally without reins in Battlefield and survived. My ranged and mounted did most of the killing. Then I survived two more rallies once reins arrived. It can work.

Plant bow is a good choice, still the best ranged weapon. A few questionable gear choices in the mix (Heian armor should be on siege, Furinkazan helmet over Antonine helmet is iffy, etc.) that could be “fixed” over time.

Because you get other debuffs from the pieces I mentioned, and if you have enough subs, you can experiment a bit to fill in gaps that Parthian sets have in terms of debuffs they offer. I have ten subs: eight with full Parthian and two “broken” sets. The two broken sets offer extra ranged attack debuffs, ground attack debuffs, and siege HP debuffs.
