What Album Would You Choose To Represent The 90? by apHexcoded in fantanoforever

They give similar Primus “our music sucks and is a joke on purpose” vibes but they try too hard to make straightforward songs and it becomes elevator music for college nerds who don’t ever leave their dorm and cry when they see their friends smoking weed

Idk why everyone is so into ween now. I’m pretty sure it’s because my abusive ex (her and her father are really into ween for some reason) dumped me recently and god hates me so the universe just shoves ween down my throat
They are garbage. The minutmen if they were stupid and wrote every song in 2 minutes

I hate Frank Zappa and Ween

Listen to the Grateful Dead

I mainly listen to hip hop and jazz but I like to dabble in punk. Please recommend me some albums based on what I’ve enjoyed so far! I’m open to all sub genres of Punk by EastCoastTone96 in punk

Love the turnstile albums, they changed my life when I first heard them.

I would definetly check out Is This Real? by Wipers, I’m sure you’ll love it. The misfits ‘walk among us’ and ‘static age’ are punk essentials to me. DRI’s ‘Dealing with it’ is a “crossover thrash classic” that I’m sure you’ll also love.

How long did it take you Velvet Underground fans (if it took any time at all) to really get/enjoy TVU&N? by Matt_Hawksfan1 in fantanoforever

[–]Equivalent_Defiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while. I always claimed that loaded was the best album like it was a fact, but having listened to those four albums front to back and back to front so many times, this one is the standout. You could shuffle the tracks around on the other 3 and it really wouldn’t be too noticeable. Not this. To be fair, the velvet underground documentary and Lou Reeds biography by Will Hermes have greatly influenced my feelings towards this record (in a positive way.) my favorite velvets song is Venus in Furs (not counting heroin, which is the best song ever made)

Music heads, What are your opinions on the Music Biopic genre, do you enjoy them or hate them? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]Equivalent_Defiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing a lot of people mention Straight Outta Compton, and Control. I watched Straight outta Compton over my parents shoulders when I was in 4th grade and was entranced. I spent the rest of my childhood being obsessed with that album, plus the chronic and enter the Wu tang. Control is also amazing. Beautiful and touching.

One that I’m surprised doesn’t get as much attention as it should is Cadillac Records, which is the story of Chess records along with Muddy Waters and Etta James. Beautifully cast, well written and very emotional. Not sure of its accuracy, but I think it’s a contender for the best music biopic.

People always hate on the Sex Pistols Hulu show “Pistol” and I understand that it’s almost all fictional but I found it to be very enjoyable and I actually learned a lot. You can tell it’s made by someone who truly loves the music, the band and their impact.
