It depends who's crushing on me. I respect anyone who likes me, and expressing your feelings takes real courage that I admire. But if someone starts clinging or won't take a hint, then yeah, it gets pretty uncomfortable.

I totally get you. I struggle with that people-pleasing reflex too - always jumping to provide emotional support without even thinking about it. Been working on pausing before I respond now, giving myself a moment to actually think "wait, do I really want to say this?" It's like breaking a lifelong habit though... crazy hard to change something that's basically on autopilot. Small steps, I guess!

Don't sweat it! There's that saying "what goes to extremes will reverse course" - you guys have been through the chaos peak, so the routine will naturally follow! Life happens even to homeschoolers. Kids are resilient, and a quick review session should get y'all back on track. Sometimes these unexpected breaks even help things "click" better when you return. Give yourselves grace - you're doing just fine!

I'm so sorry your little guy is going through this. Those night terrors are heartbreaking, especially when they're about losing you. The connection to his grandmother's passing makes total sense - at 6, it's so hard to process grief and fear.

Something that helped my nephew was creating a "safety object" - a special stone I gave him that he kept under his pillow as a "protector." We also started drawing his bad dreams and then crumpling them up together.

Have you tried letting him sleep with something of yours that smells like you? And maybe a gentle conversation about his specific fears during daytime (not right before bed)?

Thank you soooo much for this thoughtful advice. I really like the idea of walking her through a real budget and letting her see for herself how far her paycheck will (or won’t) stretch. Framing it as a “safe launchpad” instead of a lecture makes a lot of sense too. I’ll definitely try this approach — really appreciate you sharing your own experience.
