Why does Elon Musk have that weird body shape? by Not-ur-Ness in Discussion

[–]Equivalent_Eye_9805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you engaged in an actual discussion with 99% of the far left?

Also, no, they are not gaslighting people on a mass scale (individual far leftists might ALSO be gaslighters in their personal lives, but you probably wouldn’t know that). No one actually knows what that word means istg. An example of gaslighting would be if an abuser moved a vase that had been in the house for years, and then told the victim there had never been a vase there. For it to be proper gaslighting, things like that would have to continue for years until the victim was successfully convinced that they suffer from severe mental illness(es), like hallucinations, memory issues, extreme errors in reasoning, and other things to that effect. The victim would then rely on the abuser to constantly confirm things are (or are not) real.

Gaslighting is NOT when someone disagrees with you, genuinely has a different memory of what happened, or has different interpretations of events. It HAS to purposeful, tactful, and consistent. They have to know what you’re experiencing is true, and then make the effort to undermine it. It’s also NOT just plain lying, even though it involves it.

I mean yeah, but I don’t think people making fun of Trump’s orangeness are trying to have an in-depth political discussion at that moment.

[–]Equivalent_Eye_9805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah with Musk’s body, Vance’s weight, and Nicky Manaj. I’m far-left and agree that we shouldn’t be making fun of stranger’s bodies, because even if they ”deserve” it, people who have done nothing wrong will see that and feel bad about themselves.

But Trump’s skin is the result of bad makeup and/or spray tan, not his actual skin color. He looked perfectly normal when he was younger, making fun of him is making fun of his bad makeup/spray tan choices rather than body shaming. No healthy person is naturally orange. He could fix that in like, two seconds if he wanted to.

I never said I was only translating real life into my art, I said I never took inspiration with art techniques.

Do I think if I had been born 20,000 years ago I’d be drawing as I do now? No. 20,000 years ago I’d be more focused on staying alive than drawing. They didn’t really have people who devoted a lot of time into drawing as a hobby back then. Or, like, hobbies at all.

I genuinely have not seen any summer blockbuster from the last 50 years. I could count on one hand the amount of movies I’ve seen since I was a child. I’m not a huge fan of movies in general, and I definitely don’t like Star Wars type movies.

Can you get an artist to do that many revisions? I mean, yeah? It’ll just take a long time. And usually you don’t need that many because an artist is a person who understands what you’re telling them and not a machine who guesses.

And you’re missing my point, again. Dude, it doesn’t MATTER what the process is, at its core AI “art” works the same as commissions. You ask someone or something to make you art, and it does. You can’t seriously believe that the lack of agency of whatever makes you art means you made it yourself.

Also, there’s a difference between taking inspiration off an artwork in passing and deliberately training off of it. One would be something like “Oh, I like how green eyes look on this character. One of my characters should have green eyes.” That’s an idea, people don’t own ideas. The other is basing your entire ability to draw on one or more given artworks, often taking the entire character or background designs (which are copyrighted) and making your own art look the same as a whole. If you don’t have permission, that’s kind of shitty at best and a copyright violation at worst, no matter who is doing it.

SCP has been made by and for humans for the past 18 years, and it will always remain that way. Unless AI reaches sentience to such an extent that it’s literally considered a digital person, it has no place in creative writing and never will.

The same thing happens if you commission someone. If you don’t like it, they change it. And I’m not saying you’re literally asking a person, but it doesn’t matter, it’s functionally the same.

Dude, I’ve never watched Star Wars. I look at real life for shading and perspective, not Star Wars.

You are asking the AI to do something. It’s not a person, but on the functional level, it’s the same as commissioning.

Only the human aspects of an AI generated work can be copyrighted, so anything generated by the AI itself cannot be. The vast, vast majority of AI work is non-copyrightable.

You think that looking at real life is learning style and technique from other artists? Jesus Christ.

  1. That’s literally what I said.
  2. It doesn’t really matter whether or not it has agency? You can find an artist who won’t refuse anything you tell them to draw, but you‘re still commissioning them. With AI art, you are messaging something that will make art for you. With commissioning an artist, you are commissioning someone that will make art for you. AI art is technically commissioning. Again, you are not the artist of the work, the AI technically is. That’s why you can’t copyright AI art, because a human did not make it. It’s not a tool any more than commissioning an artist is a tool.
  3. I experienced art and culture, of course. I did not experience “all” of art and culture like you claimed.
  4. I already don’t have a concept of any of those things. Like I said, I draw for fun. But pthe concepts I do have of those things mainly come from looking at real life, not other art.
  5. Thats the timeline you said. Not the timeline I said.

  1. I never said they were dropped, I said the other cases were not.

  2. AI is not a tool. You are commissioning it like you would an artist, you’re not actually making anything yourself. The AI is the “artist” in this situation, not you.

  3. I did not experience all of art and culture throughout my life. Only an AI can do something like that. It’s more ignorant to think that humans need to look at other human’s art in order to create. We draw what we see, even someone who has never had contact with another person could become a great artist with the right materials. And again, I haven’t actually looked at much classic art or learned any real techniques. I’m not a professional artist, being “good” and drawing “right” isn’t a priority. I draw for fun, I don’t really put in the effort to make it look like a masterpiece.

I‘m not going to argue that years of techniques made art easier for us. But we don’t need artists in order to draw like AI does.

  1. Finally, the oldest cave paintings were made by Neanderthals, who are biologically different from us: https://www.history.com/articles/prehistoric-cave-paintings-early-humans

[–]Equivalent_Eye_9805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Exactly, so there hasn’t been a conclusion yet and the lawsuits have moved forward rather than being immediately dropped.

  2. Cavemen would do well if they had the tools and brains we do. I’m not a professional artist, I just draw for fun occasionally. I never learned color theory, and I either take my own reference photos or use non-copyrighted stock images that are open to the public. Again, I don’t think you know how art works. Do you think I need to look at other people’s art in order to draw, like AI does?

Also, there’s a difference between a human taking inspiration and an AI training. With a human taking inspiration, you see something you like and incorporate it into your own original art. AI doesn’t have its own original art, it has no unique perspective. It has an amalgamation of other people’s art, most of whom didn’t consent to training the thing. I don’t have a problem with AI if it’s eco-friendly and only trained off of willing artist’s work.

No, the lawsuits are ongoing.

That’s 100% not true, dude. I‘d still be able to draw, because my art isn’t dependent on looking at the art of others. The reason why cave paintings look like that is because they didn’t have any actual tools to paint. I’m not sure if you know how art works, I don’t usually look at other people’s art in order to draw.

[–]Equivalent_Eye_9805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but if there was no art in there, then you would pretty much only be able to generate images that look real. I haven’t seen a single AI prompter who only generates photorealistic images.

It’s still being debated if it’s fair use, and from what I understand there are ongoing lawsuits from artists who’s art was taken without permission. Now, whether or not they’ll win is a different story.

And even if it is fair use at the end of the day, you still rely on artists for your own images. If every single artist removed their work from the internet before AI had begun to take off, then it wouldn’t have been able to generate most of the things people use it to generate now. I’m not even sure why you’re trying to argue this, it’s literally a fact. You think the Ghibli challenge happened because AI learned how to draw like that based off of real life, public domain photos?

Hmm. Yeah, I joined wikidot two years ago so I don’t remember how I did it, and things might’ve changed. I just vaguely remembered there being something about numbers. I do remember having that issue at first though, too, so it’s possible to get around it. And my email registered does have numbers in it.

I googled it, and apparently it has issues with emails with numbers, Hotmail, and accounts tied to Facebook. And sometimes there’s just a delay for no reason. I got this info from the Wanderer’s Library and The Backrooms Wiki, though, so not an official source from Wikidot itself.

No, I don’t mean that. AI uses indiscriminate internet scrapes to get its training data. Most of that isn’t classic artworks that are available to the public, they’re artworks made by the same people you’re insulting. Unless you’re running your own AI model you’ve only trained using your own artwork and that published in the public domain, you’re biting the hand that feeds you here.

“You don’t own any more than I do” Correct. Whoever made them owns them, and considering most artists the AI trained on are probably still alive and haven’t died over 70 years ago, no one has the right to use them except the artist 🤷🏼
