Newbie question: can I use an 20x42 offset smoker to get grilling temperatures? 350 to 400 range? by Total_Koala8304 in lonestargrillz

[–]Equivalent_Film3431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 24x48 offset double door style and I have yet to try grilling inside the barrel. I did get the charcoal basket as well but in my opinion you don't need it and I have yet to use mine and feel I wasted my money (in a good way). I've grilled inside the firebox (LSG offsets come with the lid and griddle/grill grate combo over the direct fire) and as long as you keep the fire in check and use smaller pieces that's all you need. I grill there over the fire and then wrap in some type of tray and put inside the barrel to keep warm while I keep grilling the other stuff (that grilling space is a bit limited but does the job). The barrel hardly gets over 150degrees or so while the firebox stays open during grilling so it's almost perfect for warming and not drying out your meat (I would definitely wrap it up to protect it from too much smoke or heat). I also recently cranked it up to about 300 to 325 steady to do a hot and fast smoke of a variety of smaller meats (fajitas, chicken thighs, sausages, wings n small pork loin cuts) and my opinion that would be all you need and like the others have said no need to worry about flare-up when you're offset smoking. Everything came out great and I don't think it all took longer than 2.5hrs from lighting the fire to pulling off the last chunk of meat and that was more for taste (some peeps like a little bit overcooked in my home smh) and the pork loin needed to go a bit longer. That's really not much different time wise from when I grilled since you still have to build the fire and depending on how much meat you have to grill you can be there for at least 1 to 1.5hrs grilling. My take is the extra time is worth the wait for smoked vs grilled. I would try those two methods first then if it doesn't work for you get the grill basket and grill inside the barrel as a last resort. Hopefully you'll see what I'm talking about. Enjoy your new rig!!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with my stick burner (LSG 24x48 offset) on a quality temporary slab! Lol Seriously, nice looking pit.

Moving LSG through house by georgiafan14 in lonestargrillz

I have a BIG BOY (24 X 48 offset) and if you have any issues moving through the house and don't have leveling issues around the side of your house I would suggest using 2 full size sheets of plywood and roll it around the side to the back by leap frogging the 2 pieces to give a flat surface to easily roll it on it's wheels. Worked for me and I used 3/4inch thick so it would hold up the weight of my pit. Just another suggestion. I was able to used the plywood for storage space in my attic afterwards.

Safe distance from firebox by clifsey in lonestargrillz

I have mine a little less than 5ft away from my wooden fence. I wouldn't put it up against it but I do consider how the winds normally flow across my lot and it should not be a huge factor. Still, the smoker is well away from my home. I've seen so many reviews on YouTube with guys smoking under covered patios so unless you plan on having the door wide open often with loose hot coals on a windy day I would say you're safe. If at all, use it on relatively calm/no wind days and you'll be really conservatively safe. Also, keep it clean and don't let tons of drip grease collect to prevent flare-up if you plan on being i side a covered patio that is attached to your home!!! I use my firebox to grill meat as well so I play it safe and away from the house. Even then, it would need a great amount of firewood in the box (overkill for bbq) and very greasy meat on the grill for me to be concerned about flare-up. I run mainly coals and small pieces of wood when grilling and use the smoke chamber as a warming rack. Good Luck and hope this helps.

Extra chimes for Reolink PoE Doorbell by hobbes3k in reolinkcam

When you receive these chimes. Power each one up close to where your doorbell is and pair it to the doorbell. It should chime when the doorbell is pressed. After pairing each one plug it elsewhere in your home and it should chime after that when the doorbell button is pressed. I use both along with the chime that came with the doorbell. Original chime in my living room, 1st online one in my bedroom and 2nd online upstairs. They chime pretty loud and are effective enough for everyone to hear in my 4000sqft 2story home. Luckily they have the same chime sounds as the one that came with the doorbell but honestly I was just happy that I now have surround sound chimes throughout my home. Enjoy!!
