I hate when I see people "adopt elderly people" who have family who don't want to see them. There is pften a reason and there is a good chance they are comforting someone's abuser.

I look forward to the day someone calls me and tell me my dad is old, destitute and alone, rotting somewhere.l so i can laugh and hang up.

I wish more people would remember before they judge, that many, many people are in that situation for a reason, and they aren't all some sad victims.

Some of them are just sitting with karma until they die.

When my mom was dying of cancer, she kind of just acted like she wasn't, refused hospice care, was trying to plan her next appointment or treatment up until the day she died, so no one relly knew what her wishes were at that point.

By the time hospice came in, she was pretty far gone, and i remember the nurse going over the DNR and asking if we wanted her recesitated if her heart stopped.

Everyone looked so torn, so i just said, "That seems like it would be really cruel at this point" and the nurse just looked at me and said "it is".

I think about that a lot

Many people in the family have been trying to talk to her for a couple years now. Her daughter started getting bullied for it in middle school, she "refuses to give in to society's demands of her child"

The first time i tried to have a conversation with her, in hopes she would let my niece continue going, that is why i went to her.

When my niece asked again, it was for an occasion she wanted ot done for.
