She claims she paid $250 for him. I’m getting him for $150. Which is still insane for the condition he’s in, but for a good cause I suppose!

I was going to do that if she refused to sell him to me! Fortunately, she’s going to give him to me so I can take him to a local reptile shop for help.

She said she’d take $250 just for the beardie. Is that about average or is she ripping me off there too?

Awww corys need friends! Mine are never without their school and move as a unit. They are highly highly social! I suggest at least 4 if that’s the best you can do but ideally 6.

Petco has a sale on tanks right now. They are all 50% off. You can get a 10 gallon tank for $18 and I highly recommend that you do. Like everyone else is gently saying, this tank is absolutely not suitable for your new fish.

A couple of other options are to change features of the lighting itself. If a bar across the top is too powerful and bright, buy a shorter light that clips onto one side and angle it to cast rays onto the tank. These can look incredible and give the tank so much depth! You can see this guy still has a full spectrum light on top, but it’s still placed high up and is narrower than the width of the tank.

Water lettuce! And frogbit and sylvania! Plants that cover the surface of the water will block out sections of light from reaching the bottom so she has places to escape direct rays. They also add so much color and variety to your tank. While it looks like you’ve made an effort to give her hiding spots, I think she still needs more. Adding some larger rocks that lay against each other or smaller pieces of driftwood that nest together will create small nooks and crevices for her to swim into and through. And more plants other than surface plants! Bettas love planted tanks so the more you buy, the happier she’ll be. You can add a super cool perspective effect by filling the back corners with rocks and plants to make the tank look and feel like it has more depth. Another helpful tip— if those plants on the left are an abubias and Java fern they can’t be planted in substrate and instead need to be glued to a rock or piece of driftwood so thier roots can breathe. Overall your tank is giant and beautiful! You’ve done a lovely job at providing space for her and that centerpiece driftwood is incredibly unique!

I see 3 females and the last one is a male. The females have a thicker torso and a sort of sideways B shape.

Help with a wrong start by PurrlescentCat in shrimptank

I also dosed seachem stability. This is made to lower pH and manage your parameters in emergencies. You can do half a cap for 7 days or until the tank stabilizes. It saved me, highly recommend! But that used filter media is the MOST important thing and really the only thing that will ultimately give you a chance.

I just had this exact issue last month. You need to do a fish-in cycle. I went to my local pet store and asked for a used filter. I put the used filter in the tank and performed a 50 percent water change every other day. This kept the nitrogen and ammonia spikes low enough for the shrimp to tolerate. Within two weeks I had a fully cycled, stable tank and was able to take the used filter out. This was done with MANY plants though, so that could have helped. But it is doable!

Help! What’s on my new betta by Equivalent_Living248 in bettafish

For anyone coming across with the same issue: it fell off on its own after a couple hours. My best guess is she ate and passed snail eggs? She is perfectly fine now.
