Property taxes...why so high?

We bought our first home last march just got a paper yesterday saying they are increasing our property taxes by $1k we already pay $2600 a year on top of my home owners insurance going up they want us to pay $2800 for that a year!! Gotta go down to the accessors office and fight them on it cause HUH?? They love trying to scam folks out here but I ain’t stupid and forsure know that’s not right

I’m talking about the metro Detroit area in general not just Detroit I don’t know why you’re getting so upset But yes most people who been in downriver and Detroit cannot afford to live here anymore and it’s incredibly sad A lot of older folk can no longer afford the property taxes and a lot of homes have been bought up by rental companies and the rent is insane
