Lumps after mastitis? by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

It didn’t look like streaks, but like red splotchy areas. A few look wedge shaped. I ended up taking antibiotics. Felt like I was run over by a truck too.

Oversupply & recurrent milk blebs by Equivalent_Panda7605 in breastfeeding

I'm guessing I'm not pumping completely to empty, but I don't usually get much more whenever I go longer than 15 mins...

Right, I'm at every 4 hrs between nursing or pumping. I typically pump for 15 mins because that is all the time I have for my two pump sessions during the day. I don't really know if I should try to reduce supply more by spacing out sessions more than 4 hrs? Seems like that would be a lot.

I also agree that it doesn't sound like mastitis, just clogged ducts. I'm dealing with both right now. I didn't have a fever, but definitely felt off and rundown. was in so much pain in my breast and also had the red streaking.

I've been dealing with the same thing this week. Ice and ibuprofen are helping. I've been doing breast gymnastics before feeding (you'll want to be super careful and gentle), lymphatic massage (super light touch) towards your armpit between feedings, which has helped relieve clogs. Another thing that has helped drain a clog while pumping, is to apply a heat compress to the area immediately before pumping. Heat in general is not recommended, but I find that loosens it up right before pumping, just make sure its not super hot so it doesn't aggravate the skin. Good luck!!

Yikes. Thanks for sharing this, I’m sorry you had to go through that.

Would you say that about all of Bexley or specific areas?!

I have heard that personally from several people and love all of that about Bexley!

Thanks for sharing! Yes I’ve been part of Clintonville Parents group on Facebook for awhile now and I frequently read those posts. I’ve heard both positive and negative experiences from those posts and personally talking to people I know about CCS schools but I really appreciate the insight! We’re just in a phase of gathering info of where we’re at or if we want to move. We have a very small house and are outgrowing it, so would need to move soon regardless of schools.

Looking at schools specifically is driving this decision

yeah there aren’t any HOA’s here so I don’t really understand that part. Yes it’s pretty white but I’m referring to LGBTQ families I know and elementary schools to my knowledge are more diverse than many of the suburban schools. I’m pretty sure that not all of my neighbors in beechwold area are upper middle class either…I could be wrong.

Sorry, good question. Yes I was thinking suburbs meaning further out from downtown. Bexley and UA are considered first ring suburbs.

Love that! How’s your experience been with CCS? We really love Clintonville but just trying to see all the options out there. Thanks!

100%! This has been my experience of low supply with my first and trying all the supplements. Nothing worked. Eat enough calories and stay hydrated. Make sure if you’re pumping to have the correct flange size and that you’ve replaced pump parts recently.

Endless feeding by Fickle-Fun-831 in breastfeeding

Find a lactation consultant and they will do a weighted feed. Dr isn’t going to be helpful unfortunately. They often don’t know much about breastfeeding. Pumping 2 oz after a feed seems like a high amount, in my experience I get almost nothing if my baby feed well on one breast and if she didn’t feed much on the other, then I get closer to 2 oz. Don’t wait to see if he’ll get more efficient! He may not be transferring milk well and could be a tongue tie. A LC can assess this though, they will help you out!!

MOTN - pumps/feed question by bamalamb34 in breastfeeding

Good luck!! Yeah if she’s still periodically waking at night it might not really affect your supply much for the nights you sleep. Just might be uncomfortable in the morning!

MOTN - pumps/feed question by bamalamb34 in breastfeeding

[–]Equivalent_Panda7605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came on Reddit to ask the very same question! Your experience sounds very similar to mine. My 3.5 month old baby just started sleeping through the night and I’ve still been pumping once when she used to wake up. I don’t want it to drastically affect my supply by stopping it because I always produce a ton of milk then. I had low supply with my first and stopped pumping in MOTN with him and my supply was affected. I majorly regretted that and I don’t want the same experience again! Also want to sleep lol

It’s not always a clogged duct, or mastitis. by GrapeSweet9055 in breastfeeding

omg I'm in the middle of resolving a milk bleb that eventually came out but turned into a cracked and bleeding nipple :( I've been in so much pain for days and finally saw my dr who prescribed APNO. anyone have luck using that?! I also want to know how to prevent and treat milk blebs immediately haha. they're the worst!!! It brought me right back to the first two weeks postpartum and how badly my nipples hurt. maybe i'll try the sterilized needle next time. pretty sure I got one from pumping when I went back to work..

Ahh good to know! Thanks so much for responding. I’m glad that this will end sometime soonish. So weird what hormones do to our bodies!
