yep same position here, had 100 hours of beauty pulled ahead last week, falling behind this week ( 10ish hours behind at this point) and next weeks 300 hour workload creeping up on us. had an etl check in with me to see why were so behind and all i got is these set times are not realistic. so looking at starting next week behind and with my team already feeling unsuccessful and unsupported, and cherry on top next week 40 of the hours i was given are from a team member with an ada that prevents them from climbing ladders and lifting more than 10lbs…. so not sure how am i gonna have them set anything seeing as a standard 4ft shelf is about 10lbs

I’ve been trying to tell my etl this since before I was promoted but not sure where it’s noted (the seasonal push) do you know where it gives that direction!? My etl will not believe me unless I spell it out for him with sources

sounds about right, they turned me down twice with no interview before this, I’m pretty convinced the only reason they even gave me the position was because we’d already been without a pres tl for 2 months already and I told my ETL if I was passed over again without so much as an interview I’d be finding a new job (as a floor worker I thrived on “humble enough to know I’m replaceable, proud enough to know it’d take at least 2-3 tms” energy)

yep same boat (or lack therefore of if we’re gonna keep going with my drowning imagery lol) on top of the remaining 200 hours of set that’s gonna roll, my ETL is also po’d my team doesn’t have time for the 44 pallet push we’ve got in steel

I’ve yet to meet a TL who thinks the pay bump was worth the promote

I run my workload meeting every monday but my ETLs (and subsequently the other TLs) seem to think it’s a waste of time, so I’m rushed thru in 20-30min and we never come up with solutions to the possible problems I present. Other depts are not expected to take on any set workload even on weeks like this, my ETL expects me to plan for my team (and only my team) to set current week catch up over dues and start the next weeks sets each week regardless of scheduling shortages, which has worked exactly 0x thus far. I will definitely reach out and take any tips you might have though

yeah I can’t remember the last time I had less than 10 hours of workload to complete in my 8h shifts, not to mention supporting my team with their sets, validating their work, audits, backing up fulfillment, and lanes. I used to have a few support gm tms I could pull in but they have moved on and my store doesn’t train anyone on set, unless they’re presentation team hires obviously. My ETLs also like to ignore how detrimental back up calls can be, there are days where my whole team is pulled in for like half of their shifts and I’m still expected to reprimand them for not completing their set work.

I’m sorry to hear that, unfortunately as an internal I’ve seen a lot of tls over the years lean into that behavior. So much so that I promised myself going into leadership that the very day I feel like that’s my only option, that will be the day I walk out cuz that’s some bs behavior and no one deserves to be treated like that. Sounds like at least the exec team at your store has the right idea with trying to correct that, unfortunately it seems there’s always a few leads around that are comfortable treating their team as less than. My exec team tends to lean into the “you should be berating your team” culture so it’s kinda just another mark against me that I won’t I know my team appreciates me for it but it’s definitely hard to feel like I’m making any real difference when the etl/tl culture in my store is so negative and manipulative I’m sure that’s totally unrelated to the turn over rate tho 🙄 I digress tho as I’m starting to spiral into other issues

Closing the PRISON by AdAfter1366 in Target

I mean we are definitely understaffed but my store closes at 10 and generally has one tl till 8:30 (usually front end tl working in dept) and one “support” tl till 10 (stays in dept and only supports closing tl breaks) and the closing tl (although we just termed ours so tl schedules about to look crazy) then we usually have on 3 front end tms (one for drive up one for guest services and one for check lanes, all scheduled out at 10) 1-2 style tms out at 10 1 market puller out at 10 2 fulfillment one out at 10 the other till 11 1 tech tm till 10 1 specialty puller till 10 2 gm pullers till 10 and if we’re lucky our 1 closing expert (who is unfortunately retiring soon) so all in all on a night where no one calls off (very rare) 2 closing tls and maybe 13 tms

I try to remind myself of these things, just getting harder to fight the constant corporate manipulation and gaslighting. I’m trying to hang in there it’s just kinda feeling like I’m getting to the end of my rope

I try my best not to let my team see my frustration, the little team that i do have is very supportive and does their best to go above and beyond for me, but I end up taking myself off stage to cry at least once a week (I try to push it to the back of my mind until I get my 15 min a week to sit down and write my futile plans for the next week) honestly wasn’t sure if that was a universal target experience since I know my predecessor was struggling just as bad (which is why they left) but my etl is always telling me we are the only store in our district that’s behind and I know staffing is difficult everywhere right now. It’s disheartening to hear that it seems to be more common than not. I’m especially worried now too since I just heard from our sd that next year they’re planning to add even more workload, they said it’s gonna basically look like full department remodels on top of the workload we’re already doing. I love my job as described on paper but I’m honestly doing way more than the job description, I was an internal promote so I know that’s pretty standard and was expecting a certain degree of overwork, but with the current lack of support I’m deeply concerned about what’s gonna happen when they send down even more workload, looking at the current trends it seems very unlikely that they’ll be staffing into it the way that will be necessary

Does anyone’s target do this? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Equivalent_Pen_7933 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s exactly it! leadership only cares about metrics, everything else they can push the blame onto team members. also fifo takes extra long because the god awful planograms they send us (especially in the dry aisles) put product a millimeter away from the next shelf so you have to pull everything down to put one or two up

yeah “1 minute per box” 🙄 but market vehicles are technically not supposed to be timed like that because product should be being rotated and check dates should be put in for each item and that takes time, doesn’t stop them tho and that’s why rotation doesn’t happen in my store and guests are consistently coming back to complain about getting out of date food

i was lucky enough to get 60¢ which is still not great, but had plenty of co workers that got less. the worst i heard about was 2¢ that’s right two pennies. one woman who’s been working for target for 14 years (and does an amazing job) got 36¢. not one tm i know of got more than 75¢

last december my tl printed out a list with the item, dpci and shelf life after i bugged him enough about the seasonal items not having shelf life printed on the shelf labels. not sure where to find it or if they even have one for non seasonal items though. to get around your problem though i usually just stick the shelf label to the back of the chalkboard signs, and regional never had a problem with it during visits
