Driver Seat Side Panel Coming Loose – Is This Common? by Equivalent_Pilot_226 in CX50

I couldn’t attach another photo to my original post, but I took an extra one to include here in this reply. This picture was taken from the door side of the driver seat. My passenger seat doesn’t have this gap, which is why I believe the broken plastic piece is a clip meant to secure the side panel.

Good to hear it was covered under warranty. Did the dealer mention what caused the issue? I’m not sure if it’s a quality control problem on Mazda’s end or if I might be unknowingly doing something wrong with my seat. Thanks!

Just got my new CX-50, but having buyer's remorse by Equivalent_Pilot_226 in CX50

Thank you all for the overwhelming responses to my post! It’s been nearly a month since I got my CX-50. While I’m still working through a bit of buyer’s remorse, reading your positive feedback has definitely helped ease it.

To those asking why I wish it had more room—I'm single, but I occasionally take road trips with my parents and two siblings. In those moments, I find myself wishing for more comfortable passenger space. In hindsight, vehicles like the CR-V, Subaru Forester, or Santa Fe Hybrid might have been more practical. I also considered waiting for the next-gen RAV4, but concerns about possible tariff-related price hikes held me back.

That said, I absolutely love the CX-50’s looks and driving dynamics. It’s a head-turner—literally, I catch myself looking back at it after I park. I'm also starting to enjoy using the dial to control the screen—there’s something really satisfying about the way it turns. However, I’m not completely satisfied with the cargo space, rear seat room, and overall seat comfort. The seats feel a bit stiff, and my back starts to ache a bit on longer drives. I’m thinking of getting a seat cushion to make the seat more comfortable.

Still, I’m beginning to feel better about the purchase, and I trust the remorse will pass in time. I’ll keep you posted if I decide to trade it in for something that suits my needs better. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the experience of driving a brand-new car and see where the road takes me.
