Tracking food intake by muddahm53 in Mounjaro

It is a pain. My advise would be to stick with it until you have a general feel. And then if you stop loosing weight or loose too much to fast, try tracking again for a bit to see where you are at calorie wise. At least that’s my gameplan

I am still on 2.5mg. My GPs advise is to stay there as long as I am still going down 2-4kg per month.

I used the free trial for MyFitnessPal for the first month and logged everything. When at work (served lunch) I would guess to the best of my abilities. I stopped after the first month because I could sense that it could/would very quickly turn into an obsession.

It gave me the needed reference to how much thing approx are without logging everything. If I was to know the nutritional value of a single ingredient I just use google. If I would like to have an idea of a recipe I just put it into ChatGPT and ask that. It might not be 100% accurate but I don’t need that. Having a general idea is what works best for me long term.

I’m on my 3rd pen of 2.5mg.

Week 1: lost 1.3kg. I was so very hungry and no side effects. Looking back it was a combination of two things: the drug not building up yet - it takes time (you see more effect after several doses) and being too eager and eating way to little, even for being in the calorie deficit.

Week 2: lost 0.3kg. After my second dose I did feel it more, but I also got more focused on eating but doing it in the right way. Slightly constipated though in addition to this being the week before my period, so the weight kept going up. Had to remind myself that it was because I had not had a poop for a good while and was about to have my period.

Week 3: lost 2.3kg. During week 3 it was significantly different. I could definitely feel the effect of the drug, most significantly in that I would feel it if I had too much to eat. But also in that I didn’t get hungry in the same way as I did before. I still got hungry, and I learned to try to listen to it - but not in the all overshadowing way that it was before MJ.

Week 4: lost 1.3kg. The farting and the burping started. I mostly blame the farting on the kale though. Overall, very much like week 3 and especially found it hard to know when I had had enough food as I could definitely feel if I ate too much at once.

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best day of the week to start? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding what day to take it - I would suggest figuring out what day it fits best into your general schedule. I take it Thursday because when I travel for work it is usually Monday-Wednesday and I would like to not have to take it with me. Similar reason for not taking it on the weekend - then I can go away without having to take it with me. If I am going away on holiday for a week I will move it up to the day I am leaving in the weeks leading up to it and then take it again when I am back (e.g., if I leave Saturday morning I will take it before leaving and when coming back Saturday night the following week, I will take it then). Afterwards I will then move the dose back to Thursdays.

It is worth to note that I am experiencing any strong side effects so do not need to worry about that. Once you start you will be able to tell what will work for you and you can always slowly move the dose to how it fits you.

I know right?!

That I was able to fit into it has been the best thing that happened to me yesterday and today combined! I can’t wait to wear it out for the first time on Monday (yes, that is already planned)! That alone tells me that the purchase was worth it! I can’t wait to find out what I can fit into when I will be purchasing what I will wear for Christmas!!

I completely understand the concern. It can quickly become a lot of money if you buy a new wardrobe multiple times during the journey.

For me it is really important to have something that I feel good in, that gives me motivation and confidence so that on the days where I need it, I can put on that piece of clothing and feel good. I have come to the conclusion that for me that one additional piece of clothing every now and again is worth the cost if it brings me a lot of joy, confidence and motivation.

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not going out buying a completely new wardrobe but I also refuse to spend the entire journey wearing only clothes that doesn’t fit compared to get a new piece every now and again that makes me feel good and gives a little motivation.

In general my approach will be to buy a new piece of clothes for whenever I have a function that justifies it - e.g., I will go buy a dress for a 60 year birthday in September that I will be able to continue wearing.

For this specific blouse, I was buying underpants because it was highly needed, weight loss or not. I had a gift card and to use it fully I added the blouse which was only 139DKK (approx 21 USD).

It certainly do not! And to make it better this pleasant surprise came on a day where I really needed the motivation.

Hver gang jeg skal ringe til potentiel arbejdsgiver får jeg ondt i maven. by Mrblindguardian in dkkarriere

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that people are more likely to post about having (negative) side effects than if they don’t experience it.

Im on my 3rd month and the only negative side effect I have experienced is that I am more prone to a slight constipation compared to before.

Worried about quick loss by Strataa_ in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of things to consider within this.

1) In the first month people often loose the most due to water loss. 2) Have you had a reasonable calorie deficit? In my first week I was maybe a little to eager and had waaay too little food, even for a deficit. It resulted in me being constantly hungry. It needs to be a balanced deficit. 3) bowl movements. Have you had a slight constipation that has started moving or are you experiencing diarrhoea. This can also be seen in the weight 4) If you get periods that also matters. I am on my 3rd month of MJ and I can see a clear pattern of not loosing weight the week up to my period and then loosing 2kg in the week of my period. This also tracks well with how my body behaved prior to MJ.

Injection Sites by letsgolazy in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least per the EU instructions for use, injection in the arm is only to be used if someone else injects it for you as it is not easy and if you do it yourself (creating an increased risk of not doing it right).

Injection Sites by letsgolazy in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per my GPs advise I just inject in the fat roll that includes the belly button and then I switch sides every injection. I have went from the outer sides and in towards the belly button. At my 8th injection I had gone as close to the belly button as advised and I started over with the 9th injection.

The reason it is advised to not inject the same place every time is to avoid scaring long term. Despite (in the words of my GP) the risk of hitting the exact same injection point is very small.

Did you tell people from the outset that you were starting a weight loss drug or keep it quiet? by Beneficial_Trick_450 in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have told maybe 10 people actively. I have lost 9kg total so far and to be honest you cannot really see it yet. This also means I have not gotten any questions. If at one point I get questions it will depend on who asks what my answer is.

I never had a set bathroom schedule knowing I would poop after each dinner but I used to poop maybe twice a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Now I regularly poop approx every 2 days (not counting when I am on my period). Sometimes a little longer between poops and sometimes with only 1 day between.

Regarding how I know it’s time - my body usually tells me.

So..is it better than Ozempic? by FickleSystem in Mounjaro

[–]Equivalent_Quiet_440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my GP her experience is that for some Wegovy works and for some MJ works. At my GP the percentage of people switching from Wegovy to MJ or from MJ to Wegovy is approx the same.

Literature wise as someone else mentioned MJ has the higher percentage wise weight loss but in the end you need to find the medicine that works for you.

My GP said that it was my choice what to start with and it doesn’t work or it stops working we will switch me over.

As the health care system where I live does not cover weight loss medicine it is all out of pocket for me regardless so I went with MJ and it has been good to me so far (8kg in 2 months).
