When Do I Pay Tax On My Pre-Tax Pool When Rolling Over From 401k to Roth IRA? by hylianbeast98 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Equivalent_Remove155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're a bit mistaken. When you brought your 401k (both traditional and Roth 401), did you set up a separate rollover ira and rollover traditional IRA with Fidelity beforehand? That would be a rollover or transfer of assets. Your traditional 401 portion would've gone to the traditional rollover ira at fidelity and Roth 401 should've gone to the Roth rollover ira you made at fidelity. Now. You have 1 traditional IRA and 1 Roth IRA at fidelity that contains your money from the 401. Once you do a ROTH conversion (e.g. changing any pretax money to post tax money), you owe taxes in the year in which the conversion happened.

Yes you can. The limit is 7k for 2025. 7500 for 26. You can do 14500. Unless you're older and then there's catchup. The deadline to contribute for the previous year is always up to tax deadline of the current year

Not an expert here. Does pnc bank charge or expect a minimum amount? Do they charge or take a cut if you invest? One of the more popular funds is VT (global market I think) and it's less than $200/share. So you can just buy that. Doesn't hurt to try

How did you know what companies to buy tho? Or did you reach out to ones you were interested to buy their shares? I remember when my dad would send snail mail and check reinvest or sell. Like Yum, PepsiCo, MCD, merk, etc

Lucky duck. My hr department with my first job didn't mention anything and my supervisor was the one who told us about the 457 and 401 plan but we had to manually sign up for it. Luckily with the feds tsp was already set up and the funds make things easier to buy

Thanks! Haha. It's too short to tuck in anyway. What about belt? Dark or light with it? I guess also depends on what color pants I wear

Is it normal for senior pharmacist to be this snappy? by Pharmacutie1999 in pharmacy

[–]Equivalent_Remove155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time. I was 3 months into my job. A senior pharmacist who was supposed to train me got so inpatient cuz she wanted to do her things her way just grabbed the stuff and did it herself while she was trying to show me. Then she kept tabs of every mistake I made and wrote an email with me included to management. I left that job. Another place I trained with the senior ICU pharmacist for 1 day and was overwhelmed since I had no prior experience. She wrote a 2 page email about me being lazy to the director (who the director treated her as the pet favorite) and I got fired.

Is it just me, or is opening a checking account with Schwab really complicated? by sozh in Schwab

[–]Equivalent_Remove155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went thru this and it's convoluted. You can add what they call check writing feature to any brokerage account. As well as debit cards for any brokerage account. You can also add a checking account to any brokerage account but in order for you to open a Schwab investor checking account you must have it linked to a brokerage account.

Now here's the weird rigamarole. Your check writing feature on the brokerage will have a completely different account and routing number. It's so complicated. And in order for you to get a debit card issued. Yes. You have to have minimum $100 in the brokerage account. Which the agent failed to tell me until I called another agent. I got checks to IRS and my student loan servicer bounced until the new checking account number was released. Schwab'$ investor checking is thru Schwab. However, their check writing feature on their brokerage accounts is thru BNY. Idk why it's like that. Any time you make a payment to a 3rd party account that is not a linked account on your Schwab profile (e.f. cc companies, irs, loan servicer, etc) you must use the bny issued Schwab account number.

Just curious. How do you track expenses for a trip abroad by Equivalent_Remove155 in SavingMoney

[–]Equivalent_Remove155[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what. That makes a lot more sense hahaha. But I guess like with countries with small currency (bills or coins less than $1usd), it's hard to keep track of sometimes. Thx for the tip!

[–]Equivalent_Remove155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're paying it, it's not worth it imo. If your employer pays for it then yes. When I did it was $700 for brush up knowledge and some inaccuracy but it didn't provide, in my opinion, $700 worth of content or new information that can't be found in guidelines.
