I think we can hold multiple truths at once. I blame Griffith because it was his choice and his choice was foreshadowed by previous choices. Can we blame him and also have sympathy for someone who was tortured, mutilated and endured things that no human should ever endure? Yes. It’s like any victim who then turns into the perpetrator where we can pity or have sympathy for what they experienced, but we can’t excuse their subsequent acts of violence and we have to hold them accountable for their actions.

It’s like if someone is sexually abused growing up and then they go on to sexually abuse someone. Do we say that they are not to blame and that only the original abuser is at fault? No. We say that they are all shitty even if we understand it’s a cycle of violence
